Originally, I thought my baby had colic.  But now I think he was having a reaction to something I ate because when I put him on formula (Enfamil Lipil Premium), he was a different baby.  He still got fussy and his crazy crying episodes, but not the crying as if he was in physical pain.  Now I'm stuck with trying to figure out what I'm eating that's not agreeing with him.

Too soothe him, I've tried with limited success: bicycling his legs, dancing with him, and putting him on a swing that also vibrates and makes noise.  The swing seems to work the best..

What is the one you found that is FDA approved?  I will try anything to help him - it just breaks my heart.  (and my mind - with all the screaming sometimes I feel like I want to scream!)  But like you said he is SO worth it!  Keep me posted on things you find that work and I will do the same!

YES!!  and it is so exhausting and sad...he cries all the time for hours and hours and I just can't seem to help him.  I never expected this.  I just love him so much and hate when I can't help him.  I found some colic relief stuff online, it is the only one that is FDA approved, I just got it yesterday, but it is black and says it stains everything, so I am reluctant to use it...but I guess when I get desperate enough I will try it.

oh, I am breastfeeding and asked if I should switch to formula and they said that it would be the worst thing I could do.  So now I am still cutting out the dairy and caffine and just dealing with it.  He is all worth it though :)

No - I tried breastfeeding, but after meeting with 3 lactation consultants my baby still wouldn't latch, so he's on formula - Similac Sensitive.

Are you breastfeeding or formula, bc if you are breastfeeding itmight be related to what you are eating. You can always try simethicone for gas relieve.

My first was colicky; it was 3 months of he!!.  What worked for us was driving in the car (she could sleep, i couldn't) and running the vacuum--put her right out!!

On the bright side, tho, right at 3 months she stopped showing all signs of colic and became the easiest baby ever!  So hang in, it is rough, but it doesn't last forever.  Def ask 4 help, and just put the baby down in a safe place & take a break when you need one.

this baby isn't but my first was for about the first month or so.  cried 6-8 hours a day (if not more) nonstop.  Ovol worked well.  Gripe water did not.  dh and i took turns carrying her on her stomach to put pressure on it.  it would give her a bit of relief.  i would also lay her across my knees on her stomach.  there were nights where that's the way she slept as she would scream if on her back or side.  oh, exercising her knees into her tummy would often release some gas so that helped a bit too.  having a colicy baby is very frustrating at times.  don't be afraid to ask for help as you need a break from it too.

I heard that certain chiropractors are trained to "cure" colic.  You should look into that.  There was one back home which a friend used as her daughter was colicy literally 24 hours a day for 8 months.  Her mom moved in to help out as it was too much for her.  She heard about this special technique, tried it and it worked!!
