I agree with everyone here... avoid asparthane cause nobody knows the long term effects on the unborn feotus... but it has been linked to cancer and other diseases in adults... just err on the side of caution, that's all!

I didn't take any caffeine for my 1st pregnancy and my baby came out calm and a good sleeper... this time around, I've been drinking 2-3 coffees a day and I'm hoping my baby doesn't come out nervous and jumpy!

Try to avoid drinking Diet Soda.  I think if you want to have a soda every once in a while is fine  but just drink regular.  The artificial sweetners is what you should avoid and that is what makes Diet Drinks so sweet is the aspertame or splenda that they use.

if you must, then go with regular.

My dr says within reason to have splenda or any type of dieretic type stuff. I think they mean more so the 1st trimester when the development of the baby is the most crucial. I'm 27 wks myself and still have soda and my ice coffee both full of caffeine. Sorry some things I love and those are 2 of them. Soda only when I"m pg but ICED COFFEE YUMMY! I love it! I wouldn't worry. If anything cut down and only have them a few times a wk. Again though check with your dr! Every dr is different!

I drink a can of ginger ale almost every day, not to avoid the caffeine but because its my favorite.  I do have an Iced Coffee from McD's about every other day, too.  = )

Personally, I avoid diet soda always, but especially when I'm pregnant.  I have just read too much about the risks of aspartame as a cause of cancer, lupus, etc.

Thank you for the answer, I thought also it is fine a certain amount of soda a day, just wanna make sure i am not alone doing it. Maybe since 7-up is non caffeinated i might just drink that rather than diet soda. ok thank you!

I drink either 7-up or raspberry gingerale as both are non-caffeinated (if I am craving a pop).  I will indulge in a regular pepsi once a week or so.   Oh, I forgot about grape crush.  MMMMMMM.......As for caffeine, doc said it's okay to have 2 cups of coffee or tea per day.

I also treat myself to a caffeine free diet coke almost everyday! I love them. I do not drink any caffeine during pregnancy, but I have not skipped it in chocolate! My doc said it should be just fine. Enjoy!

I personally drink diet caffine free coke aroud the house, but when I am out at a restaurant I just order the regular stuff.  You are aloud a certain amt of caffine a day, and if you google it,it will tell you.  I avoided caffine completley during the first trimester because caffine can cause a higher risk of m/c and since I was bleeding, my dr. told me to avoid it.  Now, I don't over-do it, but certinely have my soda when we are out :)
