Yeah I guess I was hoping they'd change my due date haha! I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over. I haven't seen my actual doctor for about 2 months, because he's in the navy too, so he finally came back and he mentioned how I was measuring big for a while and if he continues to measure big they'll do an ultrasound and see if dates need to be adjusted.
As long as you are over and not under, they usually don't worry too much about it. If it's WAY higher, they may check various things, depending on you and your situation. mine turned out with my son to be that i had slightly greater amniotic fluid volume, and a two pound placenta!! and at 37+4 when i had my son, he was a hefty 7lb 6oz. He was just kinda biggish. I measured typically 4 or so wks ahead with him.
They also track progression, i.e. if you are consistently measuring 4 weeks ahead and suddenly at your next appt you are only measuring 1 wk ahead, then it *could* indicate a growth problem. so really it's just a marker to see if things are progressing smoothly.
many doctors actually don't use it, or use it sparingly, these days. think of it like your 1 hr glucose screening, or an NST... if everything is good, everything is good. if it comes back "failed", then they do a real test to see if something actually is wrong, but most of the time there isn't.
Hi Kim. When I went on my 28 Check up I was measuring 34 cms. I go this Friday at 33 Weeks So i will let you know what I"m measuring now. My doctor said I'm just going to have a big baby!!!
I am 5' on a good day and I am 35 weeks measuring 37. Everyone tells me how big I look because the baby is straight out and looks like a basketball. My waist measurement is about 4 inches bigger than when I had my daughter 8 years ago. getting close
I'm 4'11 too! Haha, I'm almost 34 measuring 35, so I guess I'm okay!
like i said in the other board....... I'm 34wks measuring 41wks. Not sure how much room I got left. I'm only 4'11
