HA funny that you ask. My doctor told me at my appt last Thursday that it was obvious that I had had a child already and asked if I was doing exercises. She said I should be doing them because the weight of the two babies is really pushing down and I need to strengthen those muscles!
After my first birth, I went to a weekly exercise class (paid for by insurance too) designed to repair/strengthen the abdominal muscles and the pelvic floor muscles after childbirth - kegels and the "elevator that jessbbg mentions were of course part. But after those 8 weeks, I didn't do them again. I guess I should have!?
Ohh I forgot about the elevator!
Definitely try them during sex, hubby will love it lmao.
LMAO! I love the "im on a question asking rampage" that cracked me up.
There are some really good exercises for strengthening your Kegels, and myriad places to find them. I found like a whole workout routine in my Bradley method book (3 stages of mastery for your hoo-ha!). If you want, just send me a message, i'll share it with you. Basically, yeah, it's the same muscles used to stop/hold the flow of urine if you're going to the bathroom. They also make sex very very nice ;-) You can squeeze your partner during sex and he will go ga-ga.
Basically, the routine i've used to really be able to control them is by starting with quick squeezes (holding it flexed will be hard at first). once you're good at that, then add the "holding" for a count (i started with 3 and worked up to 10), then there is an advanced technique called the elevator that is hard to explain. if you want to know, i'll be happy to tell you, just don't want to bore you, lol.
hope that helps
They strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and help with delivery and bladder control, they also help after birth to get the muscles back to normal. To make sure you are doing them right go pee and hold your muscles to stop the flow of urine, that's a kegal. You should be doing them a few times a day, hold them for 8-10 seconds for reps of 3 or 4.
They are exercises that strengthen your vaginal muscles and is supposed to help with incontinence during pregnancy and help with a vaginal delivery. I hope this helps!
I can't exactly remember did you google them. I know it has something to do with strengthing your muscles in your groin. Yikes I hope I'm right. I can't see how they can hurt. It will probably help if you have a vag delivery! Let me know what you find out!
