emergency c-secion.. bleah.  combination of the cholestasis plus mild but steadily worsening pre-eclampsia = we're going to take her out now.  i went in monday for my regular NST and they never let me leave, had her tuesday night.  She weighs 5lbs and is the most beautiful thing i've ever seen.

Please, please, please, pray for her.  She was almost 5 weeks early, and is doing great, except that she's having trouble gaining weight.  It's apparently common among preemies, but it is still very serious.  :-(  so if you think of her, say a prayer for her.  they are impressed with her condition otherwise----perfect health, etc, it's just that between not having the month of fat layering that full term babies get during the ninth month, she burns way more calories just trying to maintain body temp, and preemies apparently tire out much faster when suckling---it's common for them to fall asleep pretty much as soon as they latch on.  that's what i'm told.  so anyway. i have to feed her in a specific pattern every 2 hours (start to start), so i'm in zero-rest/feeding nazi mode.  it often takes an hour and a half to complete 1 feeding.  So I'm a little tired ;-)

but i'm so in love with her already... i can't believe how much i love her.

i've been so out of the loop, how is everyone?!?!

I'm so happy to hear she is doing good. I hope you feel better soon. It sounds like a nightmare but well worth it in the end! I hope you have a smooth recovery my friend. I can't wait to see pics! Congrats again!

AP---yeah the c-sec STUNK.  my bp was so out of control when they decided to take her out that apparently it was causing huge problems with the anesthesia too.  And i guess the magnesium sulfate that i had to be on made me go from bird legs to elephant legs.  i'm so swollen i'm nearly unrecognizable.  everyone says it will start to get better in a week or two... eek.  it's actually very painful, but it's worth it---she's so amazing.  i will try to get some pics up for y'all to see soon.

ladybug---you have NO IDEA what a relief it is.  It's an amazing difference, not having to worry anymore.  it was scary once everything started happening (more scary than i could have imagined), but as soon as i heard her cry it was like the weight was lifted and my heart soared.  how are you doing?  any news?

prayers answered!!  yay!!  with unrelenting effort and the grace of God, she put on 7 oz in 3 days!!!!!!  I'm told this is double what they like to see and could not be better.  i no longer have to supplement with high-calorie formula, but she still has to have a couple extra visits in the next couple of weeks to make sure the growth continues.

Yay!  I am so glad that she is here and doing well (and I've been praying for her!).  I know its a relief to have her in your arms where you know she is safe!  I can't wait to see pics - I'm sure she is beautiful!!

Congrats!!  I'm sure she's gorgeous.  Glad to hear everything is okay, but that round-the clock feeding is sure tough on 'mom'.  Just remember it won't last forever! Hang in there; I will pray for you AND your little one.
