Are any of you have dizzy spells?

I've been getting very dizzy off an on. I was standing at work today and everything got kind of blurry and I got dizzy. I went to sit down with a client and it kept on even after I sat down. I have never had this happen before..now it's happened quite a few times in the past week. My dr. said to start eating 6 times a day, but I don't think it's my blood sugar?? They also want me to take my blood pressure, but I can't just run out to the pharmacy when this happens. I thought I was going to have to get DH to come pick me up today and bring me to the dr...there is no way I could have drove like that.

I almost fainted last week and have been having issues w/a racing heart (I have a mild MVP, but that's a pretty common disorder).

My OB recommended I see a cardiologist but did say that racing heart and light headedness was common in pg. Also, my BP was only 96/64 which is very low. I actually just go back from an echocardiogram this afternoon and see a cardiologist on Monday. I think all will be fine, but if you are concerned, talk to your OB and he/she may have you get checked out with a specialist.. just in case!

The weird thing was mind happened when I was just sitting.. it's not like I was laying down and then got up quickly. I started blacking out and almost passed out. So, given and the MVP I think that's why the extra concern. But, I have read many stories of low BP during pregnancy which I think is pretty common. hth!!

I've had vertigo before...it's pretty scary.  That was the first thing I thought about when I first read your post?  Have you had a headcold or inner-ear issues?  I know when I had vertigo...I could be sitting still on the couch then suddenly the room was spinning out of control.

Otherwise, it could just be the increase blood circulation...

Good luck!   Keep us posted!  REST! =)

Has anyone had vertigo?? I had to tell them at work incase it keeps happening there and one of the girls said she had vertigo during her pregnancy. I don't really know much about it.

The thing that is the most strange to me is that this happens while I'm just standing there doing nothing. I hope to find out for sure what's going on if it keeps up. I'm just really scared that it might happen while I'm driving right now.

I have had then and my BP is running lower then usual. MY OB says that when you get to 17-18 weeks your BP will tend to run lower and that you need to get up and down slowly and not bend over if it is too bad. I have a manual cuff and I have DH check it often when this happens and it is always fine.

The OB said to watch for headaches and swelling anywhere to indicate high blood pressure. IF I do not have those syptoms it is most likely the lower pressure my body is not used to.

Hope this is the case for you and all is well!!

Steph, I've had a few dizzy spells when I've gotten up too quickly but it doesn't last more than a minute. I did read that the extra blood in the body when a woman is pg can cause you to feel faint or dizzy. It wouldn't hurt to buy one of those cuffs...they are inexpensive. Hope you feel better!

Thanks girls :D I might look into getting one of those cuffs. I usually have low blood pressure and low blood sugar, but whenever it bothered me it would be when I stand up..this seems to be happening when I'm just standing there.

I get that also, but I have blood pressure issues. Definitely check your blood pressure out. Also it often happens in the hour before lunch/dinner and that is usually fixed with food..

I had them really bad at about 11-13wks...but I have a heart problem. They do sell portable blood pressure cuffs from like $20-$100...target, CVS, walgreens..probably wal-mart too. Might not be a bad idea for a week or two! Good luck hon hope it clears up soon :(
