Checking in on July babies!

I am 38w1d today, and just came back from my OB appointment.  I am about 50% effaced, and a fingertip dialated.  (not sure the scientific measurement of a fingertip, but I'm guessing that is less than 1cm?)

I wanted my midwife to strip my membranes, which she was all for, but because I wasn't open enough, she really couldn't.  (Major bummer!)  She did try to stretch things out in there as much as possible.

I left my appointment a little disappointed.  Don't get me wrong, I'm happy the baby is doing well, but I'm overly tired of being pregnant.  It could be a long 2 weeks.

For medical reasons yes I'm being induced on tuesday (7/6)...so I guess you could say I chose to go with it, but I didn't have much choice, lol. My health is starting to seriously be affected so the doctor just said "we're scheduling you"...considering I was in the hospital for heart problems when we discussed it, I didn't argue much. I'm putting all the guilt and anxiety behind me and just going to enjoy the last few days before the baby gets here...although everyone keeps wanting to take my daughter to give me time to rest and I keep telling them that I don't want her to be away from mommy the last couple days of her being an only child LOL (she's 21 months :) ). That and I was away from her for 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital and I nearly went bonkers....

but yeah, definitely being induced soon. Hope he comes on his own before then, and if I have any more cardiac episodes they're going to admit me and induce before then, but for now the plan is..amnio first thing thursday (tomorrow) AM, induction tuesday.

phew..wish me luck. good luck to all you ladies as well hope to be hearing birth stories soon..and congrats to our new mommas (we have a few!).

I'm faced with the same decision. I'm 37 weeks today and at my ob appt. my dr told me at 38 weeks he isn't opposed to inducing me. I was induced with my last baby and it went fine. It was a lot more painful than when I wasn't induced though. To go from 0 to 10 in a matter of 45 minutes was intense. I've been having some mild contractions but am not sure if I'm dialated at all or not, my dr will check next week...I would rather go into labor on my own but I am so uncomfortable...a sprained ankle, carpal tunnel and terrible sinuses...I feel like a huge complainer but it would be nice to set the date and have it done. Anyone go with being induced?

Well I've had a ton of complications that started a little over a week ago so most likely I'll be induced early at 38wks. I get an amnio on thursday to determine lung maturity and if it comes back positive they'll schedule the induction for this upcoming weekend...I'm really anxious. I'm about 65% effaced and 2CM dilated, and I've been having some incredible contractions that just floor me with how painful they are...and they come regularly for like a few hours and then...stop. bleah. I keep hoping he'll come on his own before the induction because that would be MUCH better in my book.

I see my OB tuesday so I guess I'll have an update then, but I'm getting kinda anxious about the delivery because part of my problem has been my blood pressure being too low...I was hospitalized thursday night because my BP was 76/37...and I know that epidurals lower your blood pressure, but with my heart condition and history of requiring surgery directly after delivery my OB really strongly recommended an epidural but this BP thing is new...so I'll have to find out his recommendation on tuesday. A bit anxious about that...

You have such a great attitude.  It also took me quite a while to get pregnant, and I also wouldn't change anything.  Because it took me so long though, I want the baby out, as I fear all that can go wrong between now and delivery. I feel so blessed to even be at this point though, and let's just say if my body decides it's ready in the next few days, that would be okay with me. :)

I am tired and uncomfortable but happy as a clam. I wouldn't take any of this away or wish i go into labor early. I just had a friend who went into labor at 24 weeks and her baby isn't doing so well, I tried for 2 years to finally get pregnant and I don't want to take any of it for granted. I have come across many women that will never get to feel the joys and pains of pregnancy, and may women who try every month wanting it more then anything. Don't get me wrong I am anxious to meet my lil guy, but he knows when it's time and I only have 3 weeks  tops, which isn't a whole lot to make sure that he is made to perfection! (or just the way he's meant to be) so as a lot of you are heading into your final days/weeks of pregnancy try to remember not everyone has it so lucky and out of 40 weeks were on the final stretch.

You're almost there:-) I am going to be 36 weeks on Saturday and I hope I don't have to got to 40 weeks. I am getting very tired also.
