Spotting & Hcg has decreased

Hi everyone,
I hope im posting this in the right spot & hoping someone could shed a little light on whats happened recently;
My due date is 29 July 2010 making me just over 10 weeks today (from first day of last period).
I had am ultrasound on 18th Dec showing a healthy bub & 132bpm heart rate. WOW!!
On 27th Dec i had some spotting which lasted over 3 days (til 29th)...very very light, but very very alarming to me. It was a brownish colour. Went to the doctor on mon 28th and had blood test which came back at 280000hcg. I felt relieved. I then had another blood test on wed 30th Dec and got the results back today - they have decreased down to 250000hcg. I had another blood test today and will be having another ultrasound on monday to see whats happening. Do you think im losing the baby? Ive read some really conflicting info on the net tonight - some say if its decreasing youre definately losing it...others say it decreases a bit around now (10wks) anyway. But is a 30000hcg decrease a safe and normal depreciation within a few days? Please help!!

Everything turned out fine - the ultrasound showed a strong 170bpm. Sonographer said that spotting just happens sometimes.
Other people have now also told me that sometimes this happens with a first time pregnancy.
