Allergic to prenatal pills

Although my pregnancy was somewhat planned I didn't start taking prenatal pills until I found out that I was pregnant. A couple of days after I had started taking them (life brand from shoppers drug mart in Canada) I broke out in hives from head to toe and was extremely itchy. I stopped taking the prenatal pills an a couple of days later the hives went away completely. I am taking folic acid right now but am curious if there are any sort of alternative to the prenatal pills.

Hmm I wonder what it was that made you break out. I can't remember- do those ones have a coating on them? I used to get them there because they were the best price and not close to $30. I now buy mine from costco. It's like $10 for 200 pills and they aren't coated.

I live in England so sorry if I'm not much help, up your whole full fat milk intake, and call your midwife or doctor up and ask them if there's something better you can take, so long as you have a balanced diet and are getting lots of folic acid and calcium there shouldn't be a problem. I take pregnacare but not sure if you have it there. x
