I'm hoping to get a 3d/4d for my birthday at end of may.. it will make me about 32 weeks then so that would be a good time I think to go in.
Ive been wondering this too. My sons was wraped around his neck three times but loosely so wasnt a big deal but im worried it will happen again but tighter this time I have a 4d us on the 4th of may so I just keep thinking it wont be long tell I see her and I will be ten weeks from dd so it will almost be like seeing her out of the womb!!
Oh im not terribly concerned about it or stressing. I know its out of my hands and my dr is very good and has been delivering babies for a long long time. He actually has delivered 3 out of 5 of my nephews. I know with my sister tho that every time she pushed her baby's heartrate would drop... her dr had a traveling nurse at the time that was determined to have that baby delivered before the dr got there so after 22 hours of hard labor 2 hours of pushing when the dr finally walked in he took 1 look at her and took her straight to c section. Was very scary for her and my mom but the cord was around his neck twice. Needless to say he didnt have that nurse for long. I know there is nothing I can do about it and im not worried was more just questioning I guess.
3 times though holy cow!!! Thats amazing. I am hoping to have another ultrasound around 32 weeks or so just to see baby again and get more pictures :)
The cord being around my first daughters neck is what prompted my doc to schedule my first c-section..it ended up being wrapped around three times and was keeping her from engaging into the birth canal!! He had been checking me for dialating and he could feel her head bouncing up so he ordered an ultrasound..come to find out, my ambilical cord was short too!! At first my doc thought her head was too big to fit, but it was the cord...this is what started my c-sections because after that first one I wasn't allowed a vbac because my second was over 9 lbs!! All of my girls have been over 9 lbs!!
Its called nuchal cord and is actually a very common occurance(25-35% of deliveries) but its very rare to pose any concern to baby as complications are rare...baby get the oxygen from the cord, not from their mouth so its not gonna "strangle" the baby...out of babies who have a nuchal cord the actual chance of death would be 0.4% – 0.6%.... so very rare! Drs and midwives are taught to handle this(there are different techniques to what to do depending how it presents) and it really shoudnt be a cause for concern... Also baby is monitored closely... if there is ever a sign of distress where there are fluctuations in babies heart rate(there are other causes for this) then an emergency c section is preformed... in a hospital setting that is...
Yes its very unfortunate when this occurs and the .6%(out of the 35%) chance does mean it happens... its just so rare that to stress about it would be silly... and trust me i think of everything too! but when its something that is truely out of your control you cant focus on it and im sorry your mom expresses her fears to you...ya know you being the pregnant one!! ive had my in laws talking about stuff to me and i finally snapped! (but they didnt have a clue what they were talking about... and it wasnt appropriate to talk about infront of me either...) You only can control so much and its best to focus on living healthy and looking after your body... thats truely the only control you have :)
