Oh I would just like to add....(bc you just mentioned stomach sleeping) that my friend has a tempurpedic mattress, the real one, and I took a nap at her house the other day, and I could sleep on my tummy!!! at 32 weeks! That is all. =]

I was sleeping OK until the 3rd trimester and all of it's aches and pains showed up.  My hips hurt when I sleep on my sides, not that we have a choice - no back or stomach sleeping.  Despite how much or little I have had to drink in the day, I have to pee like 3 times during the night - and I pee each time as if I drank a lot and haven't peed in hours!  It's ridiculous!  I can't easily roll over because my very upper inner thigh muscles absolutely kill me!  I am so ready to have this baby and at least the aches and pains will be gone - then I won't be sleeping for a different reason!  LOL

I'm not sleeping at all either! I can sometimes take a nap during the day for an hour or 2. But as night, if I lie all the down, it feels like all the blood is rushing to my head, so then I have to sleep sitting up, only it hurts my hips to sleep on my back. And then I have to pee like 4x / night. And I also have a large dog, 2 very fat cats and a very tolerant fiancee that sleep with me. LOL. I just toss and turn ALL NIGHT. I did take a Benadryl to sleep the other night though, it worked quite well.

Yea! I can't sleep either! I read in Parents Magazine that by not sleeping, you can increase your risk to preeclampsia... I am going to talk to my doctor about ways to sleep. I have about 10 dreams/night that I can clearly remember because I never get out of REM.

Manderella - they say some babies can be born with teeth!  Uh oh!  I hope you have strong nipples..haha  That is rarely the case though, I have never actually heard of it happening to anyone...my son didn't get his first until 11 months (I stopped breastfeeding at 10 months, thank goodness).  He's now 14 months and has almost 6 teeth..I think he's a slow teether.  I also often dreamed that I gave birth and the baby was really advanced, like could walk and talk already...kind of freaky...LOL

By the way - last night I was so thirsty I drank water before bed (which as I said before, I don't do) and guess what, for the first time in a while, I had to get up in the middle of the night to pee...grrrr...so annoying when I'm all cozy in bed with my pillows all around me.  LOL

Manderella - I am having the weirdest dreams, too!  Sometimes, I wake up and it takes a while to fall back asleep - I wouldn't say they are always nightmares, just weird stuff.  Oh, one of my sort of funny "nightmares" was that I woke up in the morning, after this baby was born, and I had TWO diapers to change - my son and the new baby...LOL...I was like, well, I guess that's gonna be reality soon...my son will only be 18 months when my daughter is born, so we'll be having LOTS of diapers!

By the way - now that you girls started talking about hip pain - mine has been hurting, too!  LOL  Also my shoulders hurt since we are supposed to sleep on our sides..though I do occasionally stay on my back - my bed is kind of lumpy so I know I'm never FLAT on my back.  I have a boppy pregnancy pillow that helps me get comfortable, too, and gives my belly some support when I'm on my sides.

I don't get up a lot to pee maybe once. But I do have shoulder pain from laying only on my sides. I think that is the part that is bothering me the most. The side laying...I'm over it! The body pillow does help and I think this weekend im going to get a wedge for my belly to prop it up. I'm 24w tomorrow. He doesn't kick hard enough to keep me up at night but when my husband has his hand on my stomach he says he can feel it.

Hi all - I have tried Kisteng266's advise, she posted this info a while back, I can honestly say that I do not suffer from cramping & hip pains since I have started to use Magnesium tabs, I sleep better, eventhou I have to go to the toilet 2 - 3 times at night, I do not struggle to fall right back to sleep after I have been up!! I am just over 23wks now ... I am more relaxed, I am taking 1 magnesium, had no need to take more. Hope this helps. Blessings

Hi all - i have been taking 2 magnesium tablets 30 mins before bed time and it is amazing. It totally relaxes you and helps with the cramping. Magnesium is an amazing thing; they call it nature’s natural tranquilizer.

And if my hip pains are really bad I take 1 tablet again in the morning. I take the CAL-MAG mix, so that I get the best of both worlds and my doc is very happy that I am taking them.

Trust me, it works…. Some days, it at least takes the edge off of the pain, and other days it take it completely away.

Give it a try. It is also so good for baby, and also helps prevent early labour.

Read up on it – its amazing….and there is not enough in our pregnancy vitamins, so taking extra is needed.

The only small tiny bit of advice I can offer with not sleeping is to not drink anything for 2 hours before you go to bed, that way you shouldn't have to get up, or at least not as much, to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.  Of course, this does not help with the pains, though, just the urge to pee that wakes you up.  Sorry.   Though, you could try a heating pad on achy joints..I did that occasionally with my last pregnancy..this one hasn't been as painful - yet!
