Crowning is the point where your baby's head is being born.
My midwives have always referred to crowning as the "ring of fire" and for good reason! For me, crowning is by far the most painful part of labour, however, it doesn't last long and this is where being upright or on all fours helps as gravity does some of the work for us! My last delivery, the midwife kept wiping me with a towel at this stage and it felt more like sandpaper! That's probably the most vivid memory I have of my last labour (my 3rd) I'll be asking them not to wipe me if it's not necessary this time! Contractions for me were like painful pressure, they come in waves, peak and ebb. Very manageable with gas and air...but I'm lucky and have quick labours, I might want more drugs if it was going on for hours!
Thanks ladies...I'm not trying to scare myself oflr any ftms in here, just wanted to know what to expect during the active phase.
I did natural labor with both my sons and i felt real labor and crowning and crowning is a very hot, burning, ripping kinda pain lol its hard to go in detail because everyone is different my 1st son i didn't really feel what i did with my 2nd i think 2nd was way worse but idk if 3rd is worse ill find out in 4 wks lol
I'm pregnant with my 3rd. My youngest is almost 2y/o. I'm not familiar with crowning pain but I can tell you real contractions are like unbareable cramps. They are nothing that can be ignored, they don't last long maybe seconds but I'm sure they wouldn't be mistaken for anything else
I had my baby 5 years ago so it's a little foggy! Haha real contractions feel very different from crowning pains. It can almost feel like a burning sensation (what I really remember) and much more painful than when baby hits a nerve.
