mucus plug

I thinki just lost my mucus plug or a part of it at least. I'm 40 weeks exactly today had a doctor appointment yesterday. He said I was 1/2 can dilated and 80% effaced. I know there is no way to tell for sure when or if I will start labor. When did you guys go into labor how soon after losing your plug?

I'm on pregnancy number 4 and have never seen a plug. 2 natural labours and 1 induced. I think mine must go during labour, vague recollection of the midwife mentioning it last time. I'm not sure it really means much aside from your body getting ready. (Sorry if that sounds negative, I've been overdue 3 times and am 6 days away from being overdue again, I've looked out for every sign and symptom in the book and have never had any lead to labour! I guess I've resigned myself to not reading too much into anything any more)

I will be exactly 40 weeks tomorrow and since yesterday I've been losing pieces of my mucous plug. I have an appointment tomorrow. I was hoping I would have more progress by now but nothing. It would be interesting to hear an answer to your question. Good luck and hopefully we will be going into labor very soon :)
