8 weeks! had my first ultrasound!

hi all!
i had a miscarriage back in february, but i'm happy to report that i went in for my first ultrasound on thursday, and we saw the heartbeat, and dr. said everything looked good! yaaay!
i'm scheduled for another appt. on september 2nd, but won't have another sonogram until i'm 20 weeks. since my miscarriage was a "missed abortion", how do they tell that it hasn't happened again? i mean, this will be my first (hopefully) sucessful pregnancy, and i'm fit with strong abdominal muscles, so i know that i won't show for a while. so how do i tell myself that the pregnancy is progressing fine?
is anyone else in the same situation? i'm thinking positive, but it's a nagging worry.
oh! and my due date is march 22nd!

i thought i had my last period on aug.22 based on this the doc. told us we were 8.5 weeks pregnant. my boyfriend and i went to get the first u/s and we were told either i miscalculated my last period or our baby stopped growing. He could not hear the heartbeat.  The doc has scheduled another appointment for next week...either the baby will be bigger or it has stopped growing.  this is my first pregnancy ever.  i am still in shock...i just got this news an hour and a half ago.  please pray for our family

**Has this happend to anyone?**

Hi there... I am just as paranoid as you!  I had a missed miscarriage at 15 weeks.  I am petrified that it is going to happen again!  So much so that I totally conviced myself it was happening again last week.  Went to the doctor and they found the heartbeat with the doppler and showed me everything was fine via ultrasound :)  So, although I would love to reassure you, I can't even to that for myself :) !  But, I am in the same boat you are.  I am a little over 11 weeks and have an appt. next Monday when I will be 12 weeks.  So, I am praying I hear the heartbeat ;)

hi i saw your post and wanting to response as i know well to much of this.. i myself had a missed OB. on june 4th , in which i thought i was 11 weeks preggo. well i never had NO bleeding no nothing. then on that appt is when we found out that the baby had stopped developing at 6.5 weeks. well on june 5th i had a d&c cause my body was not tryin to get rid of it . so i had it . and no return of AF. well then 6 1/2 weeks after the d&c we have found out that we are yet again preggo. well for the last four weeks i have had a u/s every week. baby is doing fine and at every u/s we saw the heartbeart. we are 9 weeks along now. and our next u/s is to take place on sept 2. in which we will be 13weeks. and just to let you know you can ask for more u/s if you really are that concerned, and most drs do u/.s at 12-13 weeks and than again at 20... bvut with each u/s my mind was set more at ease. hopefully everything goes well with you .. speak up and ask for a u/s if thats whats you need.. good luck to you and happy 9 months

thanks so much for your reassurances! it means a lot!
jem, how do you get to have a weekly sonogram? i didn't even know they would do that!! that's great advice about requesting a sonogram at week 13....i think i'll do that. i think after you've had a missed miscarriage that worry sticks with you that you're baby will once again stop growing....but like your experience, there was never a heartbeat.

You are so not alone. I have symptoms that really come and go and no morning sickness. I also had a missed miscarriage - butthat was before we ever saw a heartbeat - and it aborted b/c of a chromosomal abnormality - it was not compatible with life. Now that you saw a heartbeat - breath a BIG SIGH of relief, chances of miscarriage go down to less than 10% at this point. But it is natural to worry -- you can request a 13 week sonogram - if you don't want to wait until 20. They will usually go for it. I have one every week - and I swear if I didn't I would think it went away and I just didn't know up. But every week I see that nice strong heartbeat and get some re-assurance.

So it is only human to think what you are thinking - but the odds are WAY in your favor, so don't worry!

I think it is normal to worry. Almost everyone does! I didn't have any symptoms until 6 weeks with nausea and then 7 weeks I started to be sick all the time. But you might not have that and nothing be wrong. If you do count yourself a lucky girl! :)

I wouldn't worry unless you have bleeding. I am sure you are going to be fine! Hang in there and keep us updated!
