I chose not to get the vaccine. I was advised to get it but after reading stories of the last vaccine they made for swine flu in 79 i chose not to. The long term affects cause paralysis in that vaccine. And one woman has developed mental problems also. She cant walk but she can run and cannot talk unless she runs. It's an odd mental issue i dont know if doctors know what it is but i heard and listened to it on the news. I got my regular flu shot though and got sick because of it. No majorly sick but pretty sick. They havent tested the vaccine for long term affects on babies born after thier mothers recieve the shot. A baby is too precious to mess with this kind of thing on for me. But just talk to your doctor. Hope i helped.

I got the H1N1 vaccine more than a month ago and had no problems. They produce vaccines in the same way for all the different flu strands, so, why should this be different? Would you ask yourself the same question for the regular flu vaccine? I teach and I could see more and more students getting sick, then, a few days after I got the vaccine my husband got the H1N1 flu too. I am happy I did it.

I got my swine flu & regular flu shots already & I'm glad I did. It's a personal decision for each of us, but like catann, I felt my risks of getting the flu were worse for me & my baby than getting the shot.  I can tell you, I didn't have any side effects whatsoever from either shot & I do feel a sense of relief :)  I work in a courhouse where people come & go with their illnesses and diseases, so for me it was an easy decision.  Plus, if your baby will be born during flu season, getting the shot will offer protection for them too.  If you have been infected alreday & haven't shown signs of flu prior to getting the shot, you will still have flu symptoms after getting the shot because it's already in your system.  Either shot takes two weeks to work.  Definitely talk to your doc & see what he/she says :)

I decided not to get it and hope that I made the right decision, I feel as though I did. My friend was 34wks and her doctor made her get the vaccination. A week later she got really sick for two weeks. It started with fatigue and ended with her in the hospital due to dehydration from vomitting and going into preterm labor. Luckily they stopped labor after fluids and baby and her are both fine. They told her it wasn't from the vaccine but I always have doubts. I haven't had a flu vaccine before either and do not want to find out that I have bad reactions to them now. Everyone has to make their own informed decision though. I hope that your doctor has some good incite for you. Good luck!

I already got the Swine Flu Vaccine. My doctor told me that i needed to get it because the risk of getting Swine Flu was higher than the risk of the shot. So many pregnant women have died from the Swine FLu so i got scared and preferred being protected. Hope this helps you make your decision!
