First Ultrasound

Hi Everyone,

had my first ultrasound today.  Been having abdominal pain and wanted to make sure all is in the right place.

We saw baby.  It is 3.8 mm long which is 6 weeks and 1 day old (4 days older than I expected from my ovulation date - baby must have implanted very quickly), and we saw a flickering heartbeat.

Am excited and hopeful for this little one.

Hi Heather,

I don't think we conceived it on our own. I am pretty sure that the IUI was important.

Di the trigger myself on the evening Day8 when the follicle had showed at 20 mm that morning.

Then we did IUI on the late morning of Day10 (36 hours after trigger),  I had an u/s just before they did the IUI and it showed that I hadn't ovulated yet at the time of IUI.

This session DH's boys only had 5% normal form before washing (and 0% normal motility - they had to do assisted liquefication), and after washing had 14% normal form and rapidly forward moving.  Though we have gotten pregnant on our own, it wasn't with boys in such sad condition.

I think I measured 3 days ahead at the U/s on Tuesday because the embryo starts growing after it implants and this one must have got right down to business and implanted early (the range is about 5 - 10 days after fertilisation), and this one probably got in there at 5 days, which is why I got my first positive at 10 days.

I'm not changing my due date yet from 29th to 26th March yet, will wait and see what the next u/s (in about 2 weeks) will show.

It sounds like you and DH conceived this one on your own, since your I.U.I. wasn't done until 2 days after you figured you ovulated.  Am I right?  Set me straight if I am confused.

I am so, so happy for you.  I just knew it.  I just knew it.
