40+1 weeks pregnant and stressing... need advise

Ok so I'm 40+1 weeks pregnant today. I wanted to wait and see if labor starts by itself but now everyone has me worried they are saying no one goes past 40 weeks that it is not safe and baby could die if it has a bowel movement. I thought 42 weeks was the cut off... Am I doing the right thing by waiting.. Am I putting myself and my baby at risk..... Please help. ..

Ya wow my first was 4 days late and she did have a bowel movement inside she fine. And shes my healthyiest baby actually. just turned 2 march 4th!
That baby knows when its ready let it come on its own ! Due with my 3rd sunday and they wanna induce tuesday if she aint here by then im telling the dr. Same thing i did the last two times im keeping her! They can not legally induce you without your permission. Its your baby unless you feel something is wrong do what you think is right. Listen to doc, but in the end the decision is yours.

Don't pay attention to her lol a ton of people go past 40w. Especially if it's your first. Your doctor will let you know if there's anything you need to be worried about. Hopefully you go soon! Good luck mama

It is normal to go over 40 weeks, you need to remember that your due date is just a estimate date. Yes 42 weeks is the cut off. My  first was born at 40+2 went into labour naturally and had a healthy baby, no problems.
