C-section

36 weeks, ftm, due March 6th, but my baby boy is still breech, so we have a c-section scheduled for the end of February.  Can any mom's with c-section experience give me some advice of what to expect, best way to prepare, what to pack for hospital and aftercare for healing? Tia!

Tell your doc to turn the baby in heads down postion. They should be able to do it. Doctors are supposed to try breach birth too. C section is not answer for everything... if any problem do c-section. Why the hell OBGYN doctors are there if everything goes into c section. I guess medical school are just training these docs to do c section, not treatment

I haven't had a c section as this is my first pregnancy but I have had surgery near the same place you have your surgery for a c section! I had staples first time round and recovery was slightly longer and a lot more painful, I had a zip stich second time round and it healed a lot nicer and I could move a lot easier as it wasn't tight! Hope this helps!

My niece had staples 4 times and I've had desolvable stitches 2 times. The one delivery dr I've seen so far says he uses desolvable stitches as well. So I'm happy.

Awil22, I'll be praying for you and your baby. Hopefully your baby flips before delivery, but it's great that you're trying to prepare in case baby doesn't flip.

Ty so much mommymom and mellynn! It's such a relief to know someone else that has a similar experience as mine.  He gives me movement, but never changes position.  Doc says we'll most likely find out why once she gets in there. ;)

I'll have to talk with my doc about the sutures. I believe they use whatever they are most comfortable with.

Thank you again for the advice! I will take it with me.   Every little bit helps to make the experience move smoothly.

Best wishes! :)

Try not to be nervous I know easier said then done but u will do great. You won't feel any pain during the csection but I did feel tugging and pulling as they pulled my daughter out it was just a really weird feeling but in the end its all worth it and can't wait to meet my little girl.

@awil22 ur very welcome no I wasn't asked about sutures I'm hoping this time around I get to avoid the staples and will be asking my Dr about it since I know having them must not be a must have since I didn't have them with the second.

My incision was glued closed. I didn't have any issues with it healing. My daughter had a short cord that contributed to the emergency c-section. So you're right, sometimes babies can't change their position. My daughter was in the same exact position my whole pregnancy. This pregnancy is way different as my son changes his positions a lot. :)

Ty mellynn717.  Did you get a choice in sutures? I am nervous because I've been lucky and never had surgery before.  Plus, I'm naturally an anxious person.  I really appreciate your advice and will have ice packs ready to go! :)

I have had two csections one planned the first wasn't I will also be having one this time around. Yes they can be a scary thing seeing as its major surgery but u will do just fine. With my first the recovery was a little more painful and I didn't want out of bed that day at all but with my second I was up and moving a little while after my csection. Not Positive but I think staples play3d a big role in my recovery. With my first o had staples and with my second I only had stitches and it went a lot easier. Ice packs definitely helped the hospital would give me them to lay on my incision I even took one home so I could do the same at home. Take it easier and take the help whereby can get it. Good luck.

My hospital does not deliver breech babies vaginally.  Doc said we can try to manually move him, but he's been in this position most of my pregnancy.  Doc thinks it's possible my uterus is preventing him from moving down.  I have researched spinning babies and have been performing the exercises with no luck yet.  I'm 36/1 now and starting to swell and my bp is up, so we've started nst twice weekly also. Just trying to do my best for baby and I and be prepared for what will most likely be a c-section.  Thank you for all the advice!

You'll most likely be fine with baby still in youuntil 42 weeks. Many babies don't flip until right before delivery. That's not right for doctor to want to schedule a c-section a week or so before due date.

As others said, ask lots of questions and try exercises to help baby flip (look up spinning babies). If your doctor doesn't know how to flip babies I suggest you see if you can find one who can.

Again, it's still early. If given the time, your baby will probably flip on own.

I wouldn't let them make you have a C-section just because baby is breech right now. They often turn as time draws near. If you need one, so be it but not scheduled. If you aren't high risk start asking questions. And do some research, don't let them just scare you into it.

I had an emergency c-section and it went really well. Healing was a process, but I didn't even need all the pain pills that I was prescribed. Drink a ton of water and be prepared to take stool softeners! Also bring drawstring pants to wear home. My incision healed well and the hospital gave me a Velcro wrap for over the incision that I wore for like a month. It felt really good to wear. And until the incision healed they have me flat puffy Kotex pads to put on top of it that also felt good. Laughing, sneezing and coughing will hurt for awhile. If you have to cough apply even pressure with a pillow over your stomach and that helps. I was able to care for my daughter just fine, even with the healing process. I hope your baby turns around, but if not its good that you are preparing yourself now for a c-section. I've gotten the okay for a vbac, so we'll see how that goes!

Do not let them force you into a c-section! Make them flip your baby or at least try... they are SOOOOO c-section happy now days it's ridiculous!! You and baby will be much happier if you can deliver vaginally. Hope it goes well
