Rh factor

My blood type is A-, so my doctor said that if my boyfriend is positive then it's likely that the baby is as well. I understand that my body is likely to create antibodies against the positive blood which is bad for the baby. And I know that the doctor provides shots for this at some point but I guess the doctor scared me more than she informed me. Does that mean my body is trying to make the antibodies  now??? I'm only 6 weeks...or does that take place later on? I just feel like it's weird to just sit around and wait to see if my body reacts. I haven't been able to find a clear answer online and I feel like my doctor never makes sense.

My husband and I deal with this, it's super early in the pregnancy that your blood may mix with the baby and will cause m/c, there's nothing you can do at that point (which seems dumb to me) but when that happened to me I was only 4 weeks and we lost the baby, it *****. If you pass that early point (not sure how many weeks), you are good until 27 weeks I believe it is (not 100% but it's close to 30) then the next chance of your blood and the babies mixing comes up again they will give you a shot called rhogam (if I remember correctly?? Sounds like that lol) and it just prevents your antibodies from doing anything and after you have the cutie pie they test the babies blood and if it's not a match to you, you get another shot (which will help you with future pregnancies). This is how my doc explained it to me. So the risks are early on and with the shot at the middle/end the risks are next to nothing. My doc also said if you m/c, you have to get the shot within 24 hours for it to be effective (to help with future pregnancies). I wish I knew more than this, my son turned out to be my blood type so he was fine in there all along. I'm 7 weeks with number 2 and this stuff still confuses me and freaks me out. It's weird.

Loom into a new doctor that you can communicate well with. It's okay to change. It's a partnership during your pregnancy.  It's usually later on (just don't remember when) that they will give the shot an monitor a bit more.

Not sure on when body makes anti bodies but my friend is currently pregnant with her 3rd and is having shots she's not had any issues related to her Rh- blood.
