Finalizing Hospital Bag

by krushing, Apr 14, 2009 02:14PM
Ok ladies, I know we had a post about things to pack, etc.  My question is this...are you using the same outfit for your little one for pictures and coming home or are you packing two different ones?

I personally am packing two different ones.  A little pretty one for pics and another white plain one to come home in.

I thought about packing a couple of each.  After hearing other mother's experiences...baby spitting up or pooping on their picture outfit and then them not having another one as a back up has me nervous.

I have a couple different outfits packed just b/c one looks pretty and the other is more practical.

i packed 2 newborn sized outfits, an extra incase she poops or messes it. I also pakced a 0-3 month outfit incase she is big. to be honest they are all really cute so it doesnt matter to me which is ends up wearing for pictures. I packed all sleepers ( with feet) do you guys think I should pack a onesie or 2 for underneath? then there is the question of blankets, my book says pack a blanket which i did but maybe i should also pack a receivng blanket or 2? lol she;s going to end up with a suitcase!!

I am packing sleepers for Reece with feet and they also have the folded sleeve for mits.  The nurse at the hospital suggested that or at least bring some mits.  As for the blanket, I am bringing a receiving blanket to bring Reece home in for his car seat, but at the hospital I'm just using their blankets.

i will probably wait to pack my bag til the last minute as i use most of the things that go into it... and i am hoping to know FOR SURE what i am having before then. IF i find out via 3D u/s on or around May 6th then that gives me until May 28th to get my bag packed and anything exchanged if it is needed.
i HATE waiting til last minute... lol

As a mother of two, I can tell you from experience, better pack more than one outfit.  Just as I was taking my son from the hospital, he had one of those "explosive" acciidents in his britches.  While the nurse was trying to "shoo" me along, I said NO, I need a place to change my baby.  I was certainly not going to try and change a newborn in the crowded small car I would be traveling in.

Even though he was born on the first day of Spring in Virginia, we had an odd snow storm of 4 inches the day I took him home.  I sure was glad that I packed those thicker blankets.

I guess depending on where you live, and when you all are due, receiving blankets would probably be enough to keep your precious ones warm for the ride home.

Good luck to all of you and your precious baby's to come.....

Best Wishes,
Heather
