Firsts

Hi Ladies-
So when we were pregnant we had a 3rd trimester crank forum and it seemed to go over pretty well.  Now that we are all in a much better mood and our babies are 1,2, or 3 months old i thought we would try something a little different.  Here is a thread where everyone can come and brag on their little ones and everything they are accomplishing these days.

I'll start off...

Kyra will be 8 weeks old tomorrow and here is what she has done so far.  At 5 weeks, she rolled over for us twice.  She hasn't done it since then, but it was still pretty exciting to see those couple times.  Also at about 5 weeks she slept through the night for the first time.  Once again, she hasn't done it since, but I am praying it happens again soon!!!  Then yesterday she finally started smiling for us.  This was so exciting and my personal favorite first.  I put a picture of her smiling in my profile!!  Her personality is really shining through and i can't wait to be able to add more firsts on this thread...
I can't wait to hear what everyone else has been doing!!

Reece will giggle here and there out loud, but 9 times out of 10 he will always smile and chuckle when he is going to sleep.  That's my favorite part to bedtime is holding him and watching him grin and laugh as he slips off to, what we call "sleepy town".

Well, Reece is a piggy too!  He eats at least 6 oz every 4 hours, he'd like it every 3 and when he's with the grandparents, he does eat that.  Then he takes a 7-8oz bottle at bed time.  We do bath around 9:30, bottle and then bed by 10:00-10:30 and he sleeps until about 5:30 or 6.  He roots around sometimes around 4 wanting his paci.

Nicole is still not sleeping through the night.  We change her formula to nutramigen because of the blood in her stool.... so she's a happy baby now after she drinks her bottle!!! She would start cooing a lot right after a bottle.  She'll have 41/2 oz every 2-3 hours, she's a little pig.  And at night time is like clockwork, every 3 hours on the dot.  She will start "talking" and kicking so she can get our attention (she still sleeps with us) I know bad mommy, but DH doesn't want to miss a moment!!!

Asa has been smiling also but has not yet rolled over.  He gets lots of tummy time, but likes best laying on his back on his playmat and kicking at everything.  He has recently been able to push his "suckie" (pacifier) back in his mouth if it falls out.  He can't pick it up, but if it just falls out onto his chest, and it is close enough to his mouth, he can push it back in (he'll be three months in 6 days), and what tipped him over to sleeping through the night was a visit to the in-laws... well,

I had been doing a bedtime routine at around 6-7 pm, then he'd be awake every 3-4 hours after that to eat... but

We went to visit my hubby's family out of state and they all wanted to hold him and play so he really didn't get any good naps, and slept through the whole night!  I was concerned b/c he didn't get to eat enough that day, but every consecutive night, it has been bedtime "officially" at 6-7 --routine is bath, bottle, story, prayer, bed-- then I wake him up 3 hours later for one last bottle-- as long as he has gotten 2 to 2.5 ounces per pound of body weight, then I let him sleep and he doesn't wake back up until 6ish the next morning... it is awesome!!  I thank God that I am getting rest finally!!!

Krushing- we always do bath, feed, and bed...That is just what works for us though. As far as bedtime goes Kyra is usually is bed around 9pm, but that is just because  I have to go to bed early to be up at about 4:30 - 5am to start my day.  It is different for every persons schedule though.
Kenny- i read a book very similar to the one you are talking about and i think the tips a great also.  The one i read is called "On becoming Baby Wise" and it has a similar schedule.

Hi Ladies!

Well Brielle will be 2 months tomorrow ( june 11th) she is doing great. She started to smile and coo about 3 weeks ago, Its soooooo cute! we got some pictures done and there is 1 of her smiling its adorable. She hasnt rolled over yet, but I think she will soon. She loves tummy time and is very good at holding her head up on her own. She defiantly reconizes my voice and my husbands. She usually sleeps from 11:00- 4 then from 4:30-8 then 8:30-11. so a very good sleeper.

krushing I usually feed then bath. i have a book called the baby whisperer and her idea is called E.A.S.Y  eat, activity, sleep, you time. I find this is working really well for Brielle, she seems to have better and longer sleeps now. In the book she says if a night feed is required dont wake them just feed them asleep then you dont need to do the activity part. anyways enough about that.
I have also found people saying oh they need to be in bed at 8 or whatever, I think it depends on you and your baby, really Brielle has been sleeping but then she feeds has a bath and goes "to bed" I would rather she eat right before I go to bed so I can get in a few hrs before she wakes up again. why would i want her to "be in bed" at 8 only to wake up at 12.....an hr AFTER i have been asleep? that would be silly. I say "in bed" b/c i dont count it bedtime until I go too!! Do what works for you and who cares what people say!

don't feel bad about bedtime i can never get madison down for bed til at least 10:30 but usually its closer to 11 even later some nights but i can't make her go to bed if she isn't tired lol she usually goes to sleep around 11 and sleeps til right at 6:50am haha then wakes up to eat and back to sleep for like an hr or 2 then shes up for a while. she is eating formula still and 2-3 oz of cereal b4 bed only she does pretty good with it so far....

answer to ur ? i always feed madison b4 bath that way she gets all clean if she gets some on her and after her bath, lotion on her and get her dressed and she is usually out.

Keisha:

We used to do bath time and bed between 10:30 and 11:00.  Well, that was when Reece was still getting up.  Now, he is in the bed by 9:30 and will sleep until 3:30-4:00.  We changed his formula and so we don't have the projectile anymore, so we cut back cereal from every bottle to just night bottle.  People were frowning at me for putting Reece to bed so late said he should be in bed by 8:00/8:30...but I think it's fine now and when he's older then start the earlier bedtime.  Who knows...Reece is our first and we are experimenting with him.

Question:  Do you do bath and then bottle?  We do and we find that Reece tries to fall asleep before finishing the bottle.  Thought about swapping and doing feeding and then bath and then cuddle...but didn't know if he's be too awake to sleep.

krushing ~ It may sound crazy, but I think it's Addy's bathtime, she loves it & I use the bedtime wash from Johnsons. after a nice warm bath I give her a pretty thick cereal bottle, and she is out 6-7 hours last night it was 7 ;)

I have also started giving Addy food, She started cereal at 3 weeks for her reflux issues and it did well to keep her satisfied well at 9 weeks she was hungry all the time so we started her on veggies, it instantly worked it was like she needed more substance. At first though it constipated her, which was nothing new we have dealt with it from birth but its not bad enough to change formula ( it dosen't hurt her or anything) So we had to start giving her prunes in her cereal everyother day. It was a life saver. AND it's her favorite. She has now started other fruits and her feeding is more on a breakfast lunch dinner routine with just formula bottles in between.

I went back to work full-time officially so the schedule is bed at 10 up at 5. Sometimes she dosen't go to sleep by 10, but she will play in her crib till she falls asleep, Its so cute to watch her self sooth, she takes both hands and rubs her head till she falls asleep, we watch her on the monitor! So cute. The other morning she slept till 6:30! I was kinda bummed though b/c I didn't get to feed her b/4 I left for work, but she must have been a sleepy girl!

ok so madison just turned 10 wks old on monday she is getting so big lol she has been smiling and laughing for a few wks now and for the past 2 wks she has started to giggle/chuckle but when she does it sounds more like a cough haha she loves to be in her swing or held..she's spoiled wrotten lol within this past week she had started drooling, chewing on everything and very cranky (teething) already lol oh boy oh boy!!! i started giving her about 2-3 oz of cereal in her bottles each nite b4 bed for the past two days. she always has her tounge out of her outh playing with it haha and she has started noticing her feet and ears she crabs her feet in the air and her ears all the time. she is trying to roll over so bad and she is so close but not quite there yet, she can get half her body over but the other half doesn't quite get there yet lol and for about 4 wks i would say madison has a facination with the tv more now than b4 she loves to watch tv although i try not to keep her in front of tv long i think that's about it for now.. lol if i think of ne thing else i'll let u guys know    :)

Well Reece is a littlle chunker, so he's not rolling.  We always put him to sleep on his side and he always ended up on his back.  Well now, he only sleeps on his tummy and loves it.  He can control his head and turns it so we are comfortable with tummy sleeping.  Plus, he's still in the room with us sleeping in a pack n play, so I still hear every noise he makes.  He started grinning around 6 weeks and did his first chuckle last week.  Of course, I missed it, but daddy witnessed it.  I'm still waiting...  Reece has been kicking and waving his arms, it's hilarious, sometimes he's actually with the beat of the music in the car and looks like he's dancing.  He's got rhythm, LOL!  The thing he loves is sticking his tongue out, which he has been doing for some time now...and making bubbles.  He has now started to show interest in the television too.

Jen:  I didn't think about teething this early.  Reece chews on his hands, but we always contribute it to being hungry and feed him.  Guess I need to look at those gums...

Keisha:  What is the secret schedule for sleeping through the night?

Well Addy is a little older, She also started smiling around 8 weeks, now she is starting to laugh (SO SWEET) It melts my heart! I finally got her on a schedule that works for her, and she has slept through the night for some time now!

Addy also loves TV time! She still can't roll over ( she's too tubby! ) but she is now starting to try to grasp at things, she has also noticed her fingers and will spread them apart and wiggle them, and she watches in amazement too funny.

I hope all is doing well!

Nicole started smiling around 7 weeks, she is now attempting to roll over over.  I put her to sleep on her side and when I come back in the room she is almost on her belly!! I think she is teething.  She will get really cranky and uncomfortable and puts her fist in her mouth.  I see two litle white dots in the bottom, so maybe she'll be getting her first teeth.  Oh and just like 4 days ago, she started watching television.  I put on Noggin for her and she loves the Wonder Pets and the theme song to Wow Wow Wubzy, towards the end of that song Wubzy says "wow" and I swear she coos like she's trying to say wow!! Is tooo cute.
