cortisone injection & pregnant

So with this pregnancy I developed what is called Dequervain Tendonitis.  I work hor a hand surgeon and he says that is common in pregnant woman.  Well now I also started getting a ganglion cyst and he wants to inject it.  I spoke to my OBGYN, and he says that the injection will not harm the baby.  He says that it will actually help her lungs to develop more.  I'm in a lot of pain especially in the night time and everytime I use my wrist (which is always).  Now I seem to be getting it on my left side as well.

Anywhoo, my question is what do you guys think? Should I get the injection or should I wait until after I deliver?  Please help me out ladies, I'm so confused.  I don't want to harm my baby, but my OB says it's ok.

yes mandy i agree sounds like you have carpal tunnel, i have this and it does get worse during pregnancy, i didn't even know i had it until last pregnancy i had developed carpal tunnel, which is why my doctor told me in previous pregnancy that i could have been developing a ganglion cyst, thank goodness i didn't but carpal tunnel can hurt at times and other times your hands/fingers just go numb and tingle. so good luck.

Well, the numbness and tingling I had before I was pregnant and that's called carpal tunnel which he syas gets worse with pregnancy.  He wanted me to do an EMG (is a test where they put on a lot of needles and give you like shock waves) but I didn't want to do it, so I just wore splints.  But the one in wrist started with my wrist hurting and then this little bump came out of nowhere and that's what he called a ganglion cyst.  It sounds like you have carpal tunnel syndrome as well.  They do have injections for carpal tunnel, and it gives you some relieve, but usually they perform surgery called carpal tunnel release and you feel a whole lot better.  I will be doing that after I give birth.

Well ladies I got it done, and it wasn't so bad.  My doctor did say that it takes about two weeks for me to start feeling relieve, so hopefully it works.  He popped the lttle cyst, and it wasn't as painful as I thought.  I'll let you guys know how I feel as days go by.

Jen-
If you are in constant pain and your OB says it is fine i would go for it.  I am one that doesn't want to take anything while i'm preggers, but you also don't want to spend the next couple months in more pain than you have to be in!!  good luck and i hope you get to feeling better!!
