evening primrose oil as a natural labor inducer...
Anyone ever hear anything about this natural way to induce labor. I guess you can start taking it as soon as 35 wks depending on if you take it orally or vaginally and it suppose to ripen your cervix and in some cases get labor kick started. Also I read that the oil keeps you from tearing during natural child birth.
Well I've decided to see his well it works and started myself on an evening dose of 2 vaginally and 1 orally to. Hopefully we'll get positive results by the time I am full term.
I just wondered if anyone else has heard anything.. positive or negative??
I've never heard of using it but ill be interested to see how you go with it. I don't mean to sound rude but out of curiosity why would you want to start inducing labour already. Isn't it best for bub to be in there as long as possible? I really don't mean to sound rude or anything. Just curious:)
Well from what I've been reading the stuff doesn't work very fast.. on average of what I read the ladies that started using EPRO at 35 Weeks and didn't go into major until 37 weeks. A couple doubled their dosage and went.a little quicker. But really what it does is get the cervix all ready to go it doesn't really induce labor per say. I've been checked by my doc and my cervix has been high and tight so I thought is jump start it a bit so when the day comes hopefully my cervix won't be an issue.
I obviously want my baby as healthy as possible I am just being proactive in getting my body ready for the big day cuz I don't wanna be over due!! lol I am pretty miserable as it is now so maybe the more prepared my most is the better chance I have at delivering before 40 weeks. I know it sounds kinda crazy I am just trying to make myself feel a little better these last couple if weeks that I have left. I have been crying and depressed because of how physically yucky I have been feeling. I wouldn't do anything that would harm my baby though trust me. I am anxious to meet my little bundle though =)
And you didn't sound rude you sounded curious =)
Im gonna be trying this in about two weeks. Im 35 now but dont want to risk going early because this is number 4 for me. So if Ive not started dilating on my own by 37 wks Im goin for it. If what you've looked up is true then hopefully I'll be set to go by 39-40 wks :)
I went on baby center and a couple other sites that popped up on Google to find out info before I took the first gel tab.
I'm trying to go a little earlier. The doc says my baby is 5lbs now and in perfect shape that's the other reason I decided to start now. Alot of woman start taking then at 36 wks because that point the baby is good to go just gaining weight mostly. I'll keep ya posted on how everything goes though.
Thanks its all very interesting. I went 10 days over and was induced with my first and they are talking about inducing again because at 34 weeks it was measuring about 3 weeks ahead. They estimated the weight to be 6 and a half pounds. So they are hesitant to let me go to 40 weeks as it will be a monster baby. But I know I produce big baby's and I wanna keep it in there. And let my body do what its meant to do and when its meant to do it. Butdoc knows best. :) goodluck and ill be watching this post to see how it goes :)
I have heard about raspberry leaf but not evening primrose oil, I was induced with my last which I.found a horrid process. So am happy for any advice. My baby is measuring big at the moment so may not get to the end anyhow x
