Diabetes

So I had my glucose test on Friday and yesterday my doctor called to tell me that my levels were high and questioned if I was a diabetic all along. My thought is that they are not going to have me do the 3 hour test due to my levels being so high. He advised me to stop eating sugars and simple carbs immediately, but now I am extremely stressed and worried about my little boy. FTM 28+2 weeks. Has anyone already been diagnosed or had a previous pregnancy with positive results? Is there anything I should avoid completely or watch out for? I have heard alot of horror stories with diabetes and pregnancy so please don't post with those, I am stressed enough as it is.

Thanks everyone! I am going to do whatever I can to make sure my baby and I are healthy and appreciate all the advice/tips. My mom had gestational diabetes but that was 28 and 22 years ago so things have changed a bit since then.

I failed as well. i met with a nutritionist. Just like the post before me by Dshtbb3. Look at the total carbs on packaging and limit it to the numbers she says per meal. Veggies and protein are OK. And make sure you always have a protein with any carb you eat.
Hope that helps!

They usually skip the 3 hour test if the one hour test is above 200 and diagnose you with Gd. Stay away from rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, and sweets. Try toeat protein and veggie and a little bit of fat like cheese with each meal. You and your baby will be OK.

I would probably ask to do the 3 hour test, I know it ***** but most woman fail the first test by 60 if not more, and pass the 3 hour. I mean I'm sure it won't hurt to cut out sugars, but you should make sure you are getting the right diagnosis. Ive never heard of them only doing the 1 hour test having it failed and not doing another.
