baby arrived last week!

Things have been crazy! But i thought I should go ahead and post my birth story. I had been really crampy all day and tired, so I decided to nap. That nap turned into me sleeping all day. At 6pm, I woke up with water trickling down my leg and wasn't quite sure if it was my water, since it stopped. I sat on the toilet for a long time and waited out contractions for two hours until my husband got home from work. We got to the hospital and we're admitted by 10pm, by which point the contractions were getting pretty intense. Two hours later I was still 2cm dilated and in a ton of pain. I was originally going to have a natural birth, but with 8cm to go and the very, very strong contractions brought about by my water breaking, I decided to get the epidural. It was a good choice! Two hours later I was 10cm dilated and ready to push. I was amazed at how quickly it progressed! About 15 minutes of pushing and a small Episiotomy later, my baby boy was in my arms.

8-hour labor and 15 minutes of pushing. Not too bad for a ftm! :) I was expecting to be there much longer. I'm so happy to finally have my handsome boy!

Thank you, all! Having a newborn is such hard work, but seeing their cute face is so worth it. :) Just get help where you can, and remember to try to spend at least some time talking and cuddling with your SO. It's a tough balance, as we're learning very quickly.
