Maternity Clothes

I am frustrated. Maternity clothes are so danged expensive. I want to cry! Why would they do that to us? Doesn't it seem like they would be cheaper knowing we won't be wearing them that long and need a friggin break? I've been looking for sales but even those are expensive! And to those people that tell me to destroy my jeans I have now and sew in those elastic bands..well they can go fly a kite! I hope to wear these jeans after the baby is born (even if it takes a few months to get back into them) and don't want to ruin what I do have thank you very much!

Sorry for the tude..its just getting to me. Anyone having similar issues?

Everyone,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU! You guys are so sweet! I was just getting so upset! Mr let me order some jeans and they will be here this week *cross your fingers that they fit* I will totally try Ross and TJ Maxx! I didn't even think of them! And craigslist! I've tried motherhood (about 3 different stores) and didn't find anything.. I know that they are maternity but I still want to keep some of my style..but I did find a couple cute things on their website! :) Its hard because you still want to look cute but you don't want to spend money on something you will only wear for a few months.

I've seen those bella bands and was totally going to get some but I forgot..you know when you are so upset and all rational thinking goes out the window..yeah that's how I was when I wrote this post. LOL

Thanks again everyone! Good luck to you on your search for maternity clothes! :D

forgot to mention also, I bought one of those "bella bands". It's an elastic tube that you wear with your regular pants. You just leave your regular pants unbuttoned, put the tube over the waist to keep them up.  Amazon.com has them, and Motherhood Maternity has their own version. $9 I think?

I totally know what you mean.  I am totally frustrated also.  I have been going to garage sales and have found some good deals on stuff.   I dont know if you have a store like Marshalls, or TJ Maxx, or even a Ross where you live.  But I just got back from vacation in Oregon and they had a Ross there and I found some awesome stuff there.  I got a pair of maternity shorts for $7, and another pair of black pants that go just pass my knees for $6.  But you could also buy those stretchy dressy pants that have really wide legs and are all elastic at the top.  I dont know the name of them.  Like other people said Motherhood is a really good place to buy maternity cloths, but I hate buying new cloths that I am only going to wear a couple of months.  Oh another good place to check is stores that specialize in used baby stuff.  They almost always have a maternity section.  And there is a lot of good stuff at them.  and cheap. Oh and also I dont know if you are worried about them fitting when you get bigger but at motherhood, they have a a body suit that you can put on to stimulate 3 months later in your pregnancy.  It helps.  Oh and another place to check is craigs list.  They often have a bunch.  You just have to check.  If I think of anything else I will update you.  I know how frustrating it can be when you dont have the extra cash to spend.  I am right there with you on that one.  So much to buy with all the prep for the baby and then maternity cloths also, AAAAWWWWW!

Ive had alot of luck at Motherhood maternity.  I spent $150 and go 4 pair of pants and  4 shirts.  2 of the shirts were $9.99. And Im not used to the waist band on the pants yet.  But I will get there.  And one of the pair of pants were jeans $19.99.  Soooo its not horrible. All the maternity tops were loose and I havent wore them all yet since I can still wear my regular shirts for now...it was mainly pants.  But JCPenney does have alot of nice stuff....and Target.  Or like mentioned stick to elastic waist stuff and free flowing dresses. At least you can wear them again !!!

I had good luck finding things at JC Penny, Kohls, and Target.  Motherhood Maternity isn't too pricy either.  My problem was more just finding things in general.  The department stores by me had very very small sections of maternity clothes, if at all.  I drove one county over and found quite a bit at Target.  I got a bathing suit at Amazon.com.

I also bought some Razor back shirts from Old Navy the other day...they dont have maternity clothes at the one close to me

Our Sears said the company as a whole was not extending their contract with whoever their materinity brand is so I got several  crop pants and such on clearance there.  I also bought a few nicer things on clearance at Ann Taylor Loft.....you can check on line.  JCPenney's also had a sale a few weekends ago for the whole store---buy one thing and get the next for .99cents.

Thank you! I have done the buy bigger sizes thing, at old navy in fact but I have a freakishly long torso (nobody can really tell..until they watch me try something on..then they get it) so that won't work for very much longer..I am also looking for jeans and they are my biggest problem. I wear jeans everyday but I have rather long legs and I work so I can't just buy whatever...stupid legs! lol

I found a dress I liked and wasn't too bad but I didn't buy it..my bad. I should have. I'm not that big on dresses or skirts so most of those are kinda out.

Sorry I really am not trying to be a spoil sport I'm just frustrated...and my belly is only going to get bigger. (but I love it)

So sorry!! I know how expensive they can be. I went out looking for some clothes as well didnt buy to much, but i did find Old Navy to be the cheapest. I also went with  there regular shirts that can be like 10 bucks or so i just bought them bigger. I found some skirts that are stretchy not in the maternity section. So it worked out at the end. Since its also the summer time, hubby said it would be a great idea to just buy some summer loose dresses. You know now a days they are loose and baggy anyways, the dresses are never tight to your body. So even after having the baby i can use them. I got some really cute ones at Pac sun. You can find some deals online...i cant buy stuff online i always have to try stuff on. I hope that helps. Good luck. Im sure you will find some stuff that are affordable.
