My scare this weekend

I had a labor scare this weekend too.  Very early Sunday morning I started getting severe cramps.  The only time I had pain like that before was when I m/c last year.  I had DH take me to hospital immediately.  It turns out I wasn't in labor but had a kidney stone!  I've never had one before in my life!

They gave me antibiotics in case I also had a UTI.  They admitted me until I passed the stone and the ultrasound was clear (the next afternoon).  The doctor said that kidney stone pain can be worse than labor pain.  I guess I'm ready.

BTW, baby and I are fine.  They checked my vitals and baby's HR every 2 hours.  Baby's HR was averaging 135 so it was all ok in the end.

I was joking that next time I go to hospital, I am not coming home without a baby!

Just found out that I have multiple stones in both kidneys and that I don't in fact have a UTI infection.

Wish me luck in passing these and hope to God that they aren't huge and block drainage. I'm scared I may have to get a stent, be on bed rest and be induced at 36 weeks.. But as for now, I'm going to drink water like a camel and pray that they just stay put until after the baby is born or are small enough to keep passing!

Baby is fine and already at 2.4 pounds for 27 weeks, very happy! It's all very exciting and I'm starting to feel huge! :)

I did pass the stone while I was in the hospital before they did the utlrasound.  Fortunately there were no more!

Wow, I didn't know kidney stones during pregnancy were so common.  I have no more pain and am no longer on antibiotics.  I guess it was just one of those things.  To those of you who have gone through this, the doctor said kidney stone pain can be worse than labor pain  (of course he's a male doctor so he obviously can't experience both!  I can only hope he's right!)

Me too! This same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I woke up in the morning w/ awful cramping & the urge to pee, but I couldn't pee much. My hubby rushed me to the ER, and they sent me to the labor/delivery floor. They took a urine sample & diagnosed me w/ a kidney stone too. I had never had one either, but have a history of UTI's. I really thought I was in labor! They said the baby & I were fine though... one thing that surprised me was they never actually did an ultrasound to check for a kidney stone. Sounds like u had better doctors than me! lol They put me on antibiotics, & I've been feeling better since. I did have some aching in my side for a week afterwards though. Have u had any aching in the area of the stone? Take care!

Glad to hear you and babe are fine! I went through something similar at the beginning of the month while I was visiting family in another Province! The pain is horrible and I'm glad it didn't take me that long to pass a small stone. I really hope that labour isn't as painful as the kidney stone or I'm done for! lol
