kick counts

Are any of you doing kick counts? My ob has not discussed this with me, but I have been doing these on my own, informally. But how many times a day do you do this, and when should you be concerned?  My baby seems to have some days when he's very active and moving all day, and some days when he's just active in the morning and night, and quiet in the afternoon. So, I don't have any real pattern to go by.  I do this at least once a day, in the morning, but I sometimes get worried by mid-afternoon. Then I start doing things to "wake him up", so I can re-assure myself. Poor kid, doesn't get to rest.

only kick counting if I haven't felt movement for awhile; not on a regular schedule

Both babies have anterior placentas so I do not feel much movement at all :-(  So, not kick counting here....

I have heard that you really dont start counting till after 28 weeks because they still have enough room to move around and it can be hard to distinguish.
