C-section questions

Hey everyone as the time is drawing closer I am starting to think of all sorts of stuff....so my question is about c-sections since I'm not sure what to expect during a C-section??  (I'm not necessarily sure that I'll have one but have to be mentally ready for it and know what to expect so I won't freak out)

Please feel free to comment on any experience(s)..from beginning to end...or whatever you want to comment on etc...  When they give you the epideral I know you have numbness in your abdomen, but how about your legs and feet??  How long before you can regain feeling again?  How long is the procedure??

Thanks, any thoughts/comments would be appreciated!

I won't tell you my c-section experience because it'll completely scare the sh*t outta you.
But I will tell you that a NORMAL c-section with doctors that ACTUALLY KNOW WTF THEY'RE DOING, will be fine.
The spinal they give you will numb you from mid-belly down to the tips of your toes.
You will be able to feel pressure and tugging which from what I hear can be a little uncomfortable and breath-taking.
It takes about 5-10 minutes from first incision till the baby is out.
It's the stitching and stapling you back up that takes the longest.

I don't know how long mine took cuz my docs ended up having to put me under half-way through the surgery.
This is all stuff that I know from other people telling me.

After having a c-section last week, it was a lot better than I thought it would be!  The epideral numbs everything from the waist down.  The worst thing about it was you have to hunch over the side of the table and you feel like you're going to fall over.  I then was laid down, and they tied my arms down to make sure I wouldn't move around.  A huge curtain is then drawn in front of your face to make sure you can't see what is going on.  I was put on oxygen as a percaution.  Once I was numb, the process started and my babies were born within one minute of each other.  (twins)  All I felt was pressure, no pain.  The whole thing took about 20 minutes, and then I was in recovery for about 30 minutes.  The numbness took about 24 hours to fully wear off, but I was up standing around 12 hours.  The next few days are painful, but I found the key was to keep walking as much as possible.  My doctor prescribed pain meds for the next week if I needed them, and I have a bandage that runs along the bikini line for the next two weeks.  Hope this helped!
