How soon before your due date did you take your maternity leave from work? I don't want to take it to early because I want all the time I can get when the baby is actually here.. I want to work up until the week that I'm due, (if I don't go sooner) but afraid to go into labor while on the job. Opinions?

I had my leave when i was 17 weeks pregnant because im working in a catholic school, the school want us to be married with my bf but sadly to say we didnt got married because there is too short time to plan for our wedding so I and my partner decided to take a leave earlier and he doesnt want also to work while im pregnant because its make me sick and stress everyday everytime I encounter many students who are so very naughty,.

My last day is the 20th, by then I'll be 36 weeks. I typically only work weekends, sometimes Fridays, I'm just a part time receptionist. But I want to take this time off that I am entitled to, it's my first baby & my first real job so why not!

Why are you afraid to go into labor at work?

I had been checked with my other kids, and there were no signs of labor to begin, so in both cases, worked until after my due date. If you feel ok, keep it going! This way you have more time home with the little one after they've arrived. Good luck :)

If you feel like you can still work then why not. My maternity leave starts on the 24th which is two weeks before I'm due, I had 14 days holiday to take so I've taken it before. I worked as a waitress but was carrying alot and started to struggle.
