how long did it take to further dialate?

had my 38 week appointment today and was told I'm 1cm dialated.  My question is how long were, or have, some of you been dialted at 1cm before dialating any more or before labor started?

I have been at 1cm since 36w and was 0% effaced. 37w 1cm 10% effaced. 38w 1 1/2cm 50% effaced and now at 39w 1 1/2cm and 70% effaced. This is my 2nd pregnancy, my first I was at 1cm when my water broke, I was 39w5d, so I am hoping that even if I am still 1cm I can go into labor naturally. I did have to get induced with my first because my water broke and I never dilated after that on my own. Like tiff5 said though, "everyone is different."

I was 1 cm every time I got checked from 36+4 to 40+5. When I went in to be induced at 41 weeks I had finally hit 2 cm. My doctor did tell me that some women fly into 3ish cm but can stay there for weeks, and yet others don't dilate or barely dilate until active labor. If you start at 1, don't be discouraged!

I really don't want to get induced. I want my baby and I to start labor on our own. I was having strong contractions Friday and Saturday and now they have stopped.

I was at a 1 at 36 weeks and 38 weeks. I'll probably stay that way until I deliver. My last child I was at a one until my last apt I was finally at a 2. They said it would still be a few days. I had him about 10hrs after they checked me. Each woman is different in his they progress. You really never know.
