weight gain

ok, so what is "normal" weight gain for people at this point?  i am 20 weeks and have gained about 18 or so, depending on water weight.  i am only 5'0 tall, and i tend to naturally gain weight very easily.  i feel huge!  more importantly, i want to make sure im taking care of the baby!  it freaks me out.  i feel as though i should be perfect and obsess every time i put something junky in my mouth.  i even obsess about my veggies.  constantly asking my husband how many servings of spinach is in this salad!  i know it sounds in sane but im having a really hard time with the weight gain.  someone yesterday made a face when i said i was only 5 months along.

need some reassurance from people who understand...help!  and be honest!

I found this really neat website that I check to make sure I am on track with my weight gain... Its pretty neat there is a calculator where you can plug in your prepregnacy weight and it will calculate what you should weigh each month...

Hi there,

I'm nearly 22 weeks and have gained about 14 pounds ... but it's all on my belly. I've had surprised looks too when people ask my due date ... I didn't think I was that big! I also was measured for a bra recently and the assistant said I was really small!!! Just goes to show you shouldn't listen too much to other people, I figure if my OB is happy then I shouldn't worry!

Hi,

I have lost 16 lbs and i will be 22 weeks tomorrow.  The dr has assured me that the baby is healthy and growing right on target. but i do worry about it.
Everybodys pregnancy is different.

I'm 21 wks tomorrow and I've gained about 14 lbs so far.  Not too bad.  I'm pretty much all out front.  Just felt the first kicks the other day.  They were so tiny, it's just amazing!

I'm 21 weeks and I've actually lost 15lbs.  The doc isn't concerned because the baby is growing and measuring well..........BUT I can't help but to wonder

I guess it's different for every person.  I guess some gain more weight earlier in the pregnancy and other put on all the weight later on.  I'll be 20 weeks on Monday and so far I've gained 8lbs.  My concern was that I wasn't gaining enough bec I'm carrying twins and I'm 5'2.  Ob doesn't seem concerned about the weight at all at this point.  I read that even with twins for my stature I should gain anywhere from 35-45lbs in total.  We'll see.
