1st Ultrasound - 6wks 1d

So,
Earlier in the wk I had brown discharge when wiping, cramping was not excessive, this went on for Mon, Tues and Wed. Thursday didn't seem to happen at all.
I had a Doctor's appt to mention the spotting, she said to go for an ultrasound.

I went for an ultrasound and now I'm even more confused.

I'm in BC. Canada, I'm 39 and I'm pretty sure I drank too much water (the tech said so, so she did a couple of scans, then sent me to the bathroom, when I came back she said I was still too full but continued anyway), the scan was abdominal

The scan that I was able to see didn't look like the ones on the internet I've seen, not as clear, on mine I don't think I could see naything in the black void. I'm assuming the black void is the sac, can the black void be anything else? The reason I ask is on one of the photos there were two black voids.  The Tech wouldn't answer ANY questions except for is there a sac - yes, don't ask any questions, is there one - yes (??).   At the end of the session she said she's going to tell my doctor that she wants to see me in two weeks for a repeat scan, i said is that normal that you'd want to see me, she said yes, don't worry.  How does a person not worry??? The not answering questions makes a person paranoid.

Urgh.
Joanne

The technicians are not allowed to tell you anything. Your doctor has to speak to you about the ultrasound findings. The black spot you see is the sac.

A vaginal ultrasound would have been more accurate and appropriate at 6 weeks and you'd be able to see more.

When I got my US done at 6W1D they could not see much by doing it abdominal.  They had to do a transvaginal to see the pictures that I got!!  So everything that I am hearing, including the 2 week follow up, is normal.  I don't know why they didn't mention doing one transvaginal though, but thats ok!!  The ultrasound techs are not really allowed to say much, but the doctor should be able to tell you something and maybe answer more of your questions!!  Good luck!
