Anyone else uncomfortable sleeping?

I have been trying to sleep on my left side but I have just NOT been comfortable lately.  I even broke out the pregnancy pillow last night but that didn't help too much either...anyone else having issues?  Any suggestions?

You can sleep on your right or left side...they just recommend left side because there are less organs and stuff to squish on that side but it doesn't hurt the baby to sleep on your right side. Most nights I alternate between my left and right side, putting a body pillow in front of me that i wrap my arms and legs around (if that makes sense). The body pillow helps my hips/back be comfortable because without it they really hurt when I lay down on my side.

I mostly sleep on my right, actually, because when DH gets into bed the matress ends up on a slope, and he refuses to switch me spots :/ I do try to just switch back and forth, but when I sleep on my left, I always end up on my back within a few minutes. In my pregnancy books, they just say to sleep on your side, it doesn't say anything about only being on the left.

I've been having new problems that have just cropped up in the last couple of weeks. During the night, I've been getting charlie horses really bad! Then my leg goes all stiff and sore for the next couple of days :/ To add to the problem, I stubbed my toe yesterday and the nail is going to fall off, so today my calf is really tense and sore from walking on the side of my foot. I'm almost willing to bet I'm going to get another charlie horse tonight :/

I have been sleeping like poo! I toss and turn and try to stay on my left side because every time I end up on anything but my left side I wake up in the morning with siatic nerve pain and a sore back (like this morning) and I have to wake up to pee at least 2 times every night! I am so looking forward to sleeping better!

Well I am glad I'm not alone!!!  I know it's weird but I actually get a pain in my ear...from lying on my left side and the left side of my head all the time!!  And I do have a body pillow, which does help...Ugh....I need to ask about sleeping on the right side.  In early pregnancy when I asked the dr. she said it wasn't a problem...but I just want to make sure its still okay....

Well I'm with all the "sleeping *****" girls. I can't get comfortable anymore. I lay on my back, but then I have to pee more often. I have to roll from side to side because my legs go numb and stuff when I try sleeping on one side too long. I blame my mattress... I need  a big soft bed and my husband demands a firm mattress and we tried the sleep number thing and those are AWFUL... it's just a darn air mattress! So basically it's my husbands fault because he won the mattress war!

I sleep on both sides and my back occasionally it just depends on how I end up laying. I have a body pillow I bought from Walmart and it helps a lot. I stick it under my belly and in between my legs and I am really comfortable the whole night. Maybe you should try that? I hope it gets better for you.

I'm not having too much trouble getting to sleep. My biggest problem is I'm starting to have shoulder problems because I put my arm under my head :/ I was a tension headache for about three days last week because of it.

Honestly I was more uncomfortable earlier on in my pregnancy... now I'm much better. Hopefully it will be the same for you. I could only get comfortable on my back... which i know is bad. Good luck girly!! I hope you get some sleep soon!

Yeah I get uncomfortable sometimes too. But also because its hot here and we don't have air conditioning so that can make it uncomfortable as well. I can't sleep on my left side all the time. When I'm on my left I'm facing my TV and I usually face the other way when I'm falling asleep, so I'm on my right side. But I'm a tummy sleeper and I do sleep half on my stomach and half on my side alot. I usually just fall asleep however I'm comfortable. Id rather get more sleep that way than worry about the correct position on the left side. I do use pillows and stuff to help me get comfortable sometimes. I have a feeling its only going to get worse the bigger we get though! hahah

I've actually been sleeping better lately. I was always a tummy sleeper and it took a while to get used to not being able to sleep on it. I can sometimes sleep half side half stomach but I don't do it much.
I've been sleeping on my left mostly but I was used to sleeping like that too. I will lay on my right when I'm tired of my left and I do end up on my back too. I don't worry about it too much...they say that your body naturally knows when it's time to move if you are on your back or in the wrong position.
I for one night about a month ago tried the wedge pillow....frig..it was uncomfortable. The only thing it's been useful for so far is to put my feet up in bed if I'm reading!! LOL

Definitely hug up with pillows though...I have a regular pillow between my legs and small pillow to put my arms around and usually a pillow between me and DH for when I switch to the other side!! I have a little cocoon going on!

I've been having issues sleeping too, and I agree with alaysha I don't listen to the left side bit.  I sleep on my right and left side about the same (I did that with my first pregnancy too and everything was just fine).  I know a few girls who are 7-8 months pregnant and still wind up sleeping on there back.

My dr told me that if I wake up on my back not to worry, she also said left vs right side not to worry because you need sleep so don't stress about it.  The only thing about laying on your back is you might have a hard time breathing, as the baby gets bigger they'll put more pressure on things and it will get un-comfortable.

i start out trying to sleep on my left side but during the night i roll onto my back...sometimes i catch myself and then roll back to my left side or DF will wake me up and tell me to roll over

i cannot stay still and it hurts to sleep solely on my left side...i heard that you can sleep on your back as long as you are not flat on your back...somebody suggested placing a pillow by your butt to help prop you...i plan on asking my doc about this at my next appt

there are many nights i dont get the full night sleep....

I still lay on my stomach half the time. Not sure how accurate this is but my doctor said that at this point if I can roll onto my tummy to go for it since once the baby gets too big it will be too uncomfortable for me to do that. I don't really listen to the whole sleep on your left side thing since many people slept whichever way they wanted during pregnancy until it was figured out to be "safer" to sleep on your left and they never had any problems.
