HELP!!! I can't hear a HB on this new Doppler

I am 10 weeks and I don't can't hear a HB on the doppler.  Does being plus size have something to do with not being able to hear it?  I am going crazy.  Where do I put it to hear it? I thought I heard a heartbeat but I don't know if it was mine or not.  I am going crazy.  What do I do?

i had the same issue with not knowing for sure if it was mine or not...my doc said to put the doppler up to my heart and see what the rate is...she said it will be about 120...so when i wasnt sure or not i looked for 140 and up

after sometimes 5 minutes or so i picked up 150+ which my doc said was likely the baby

my baby is towards my back alot because my uterus is tilted backwards....maybe you have the same thing...now that im 14 weeks there is no mistaking the baby's heartbeat...it sounds like horses galloping through my belly and it jumps to 150-160

i wouldnt panic yet...its just hard being at that inbetween stage...a couple more weeks and there will be no more second guessing

im now at the point im waiting to feel mine move around...doc also said it may be longer til i feel that too because of my uterus...

best of luck to you

This is actually my 3rd pregnancy.  I have a daughter and I lost one at 6 1/2 weeks in Nov. 09.  Yes it has a  digital read out but it really doesn't help cause I don't know if its mines or the baby.

Yes, do not freak out.
I had a dr appointment last week (12 plus weeks) and neither nurse nor doctor could find the heart beat with the doppler. To put my mind at ease the dr did an ultrasound and we saw a growing baby with a perfect heart beat. The doctor says that the heart is too small.
You know what I wanted to buy the doppler and my husband said, "no way all we need is one day not to be able to located the heartbeat and freak out". I first got mad and called him cheap, but he was totally right!
Take Care.

Nah, don't even freak out, almost always you can't hear the heart beat till 12 weeks with a doppler anyway. And even if you can hear it, it's not that easy to find. Just wait for a week, try again, then if you can't hear it, wait till you're 12 weeks. I'm 13 week and my doc had a hard time finding the heart beat the other day... don't worry!!!

i wouldnt freak out yet...i couldnt actually hear mine until 11 weeks i think...it was later then i expected...i was able to find the placenta (sounds like wind blowing like crazy) and listening to that comforted me

do you have one that gives you a digital reading?

im 14 weeks now and sometimes i cant find the baby and then other time there it is right in the middle

is this your first preg? there are numerous factors that can affect when you hear it...most ob's wont try to find until after 12 weeks because of this reason

best of luck to you
