I've been recently experiencing these "spasms" lately, too. They did have me worried, especially since I did a Google search (and I should know not to do this...) and read all about seizures and such. Yikes! Reading your posts make me feel a little more comforted that others are also feeling this. I see my ob/gyn today and was planning on bringing it up, anyway. We'll see what she says...
I guess it could be the baby as well but thats what they told me when I got my ultrasound last week. All I know is they said its normal and baby is super healthy so im not too worried about it anymore.
My doctor said it's normal. So no worries although it does feel weird.
Actually I just went into a researching frenzy over this about a week or so ago- from what I found, it's the baby for sure. In short a baby's muscles and nerves are still very immature and developing and when they move sometimes they don't fire off right since they are so under-developed. It can be compared to when you stretch out and sometimes you shake a little when you stretch really hard.
It's completely and totally normal!
Said it was uterine spasms. Just like a muscle getting over worked and spasming were working out those muscles and they spasm. She also said that seizures are extremely rare in pregnancy.
I think hiccups are pretty identifiable, but I have felt something similar as well... except mine may be something different because mine only happens on the sides of my belly, it feels like LandM described as rumbling, or almost like bubbles or something... I'm not too concerned... just thought it was kinda weird.
But she could just be stuck in a position that's uncomfortable for her... but definitely ask your doc what he/she thinks... let us know what they say!
I've somewhat felt that too, but when it happens for me I can see my belly jumping around and the baby kicking and stuff. I remember having that with my son, and to me it kind of seems like it's mussel spasms from the baby or something.
My little guy just started doing that this week too. I am seeing my OB on Thursday and plan to ask her about it. It's a very strange rumbling almost. Makes me concerned too. I will let you know what I find out.
When she hiccups though it feels more steady and happens on and off for a couple minutes. This is like shaking like shes stuck or moving really fast and it lasts for only about 10 seconds then stops and then she moves about like usual.
It might be hiccups just a guess
