I had one with my first. 21 hrs of labour with no progression. The whole thing was calm and relaxed, the midwives took photos of the whole thing which was amazing if you can handle a little blood. It's a strange feeling because you can feel the tugging and pulling around your tummy but it doesn't hurt. The midwives kept asking me if I could feel any pain as sometimes the epidural is not enough to stop all pain so they're prepared to put you to sleep if this happens. It's helpful to have the midwives or your partner talking to you throughout, myself I kept nearly having panic attacks throughout because it felt so strange. As far as the pain afterwards goes it's not too bad, the furst couple of days are the worst but like someone above said walking small amounts soon after makes the world of difference. I was in hospital for 4 days after the surgery, they might have let me leave after 3 days but we were having feeding difficulties. After about 3 weeks the pain was significantly better but the area itself was still tender. Try to take it easy afterwards but find that happy balance between rest and keeping mobile, and don't be afraid to ask for pain meds after. It didn't even occur to me at the time to take pain relief, I was offered but always turned it down. Looking back I probably made myself suffer through a lot of unnecessary pain lol
Best of luck! Hope you have a nice, smooth and calm delivery!

I've had one with my 2nd child. Was an emergency c section so at the time i wasn't thinking bout anything else apart from wanting him to come out. You won't feel a thing cos you'll have an anaesthetic all you'll feel is pulling and tugging but doesn't hurt and afterwards aint that bad either. You'll be slow for at least week i still did light house work even though you're not meant to do a thing but i reckon it helped me recover faster, was given codeine for pain relief but didnt really take em cos it wasnt that bad. Im going for another c section this coming Monday for my 3rd baby. All the best for your c section :)

We were just like you.  Hoping for a natural birth.  But because she was stubborn and stayed breech and because of the gdm,  she had to come out a week and a half before her due date.  In the end,  we got to see our girl little a little earlier and she is perfect!  Good luck!  Just keep thinking everything will be OK

Definitely try to start walking when you feel like you can after the procedure.  That'll help you get out of the hospital quicker.  Even just once around the room or to bathroom and back to bed.  The procedure itself is pretty quick.  Just try to follow their instructions as best you can when they give you the anesthesia.  The effects kick in pretty quick.  Baby is out in like 5-10 min and it takes about 45 min to fix you back up.  Don't be afraid to ask for any meds for any symptoms you experience,  esp pain.  Took me about 2 weeks to feel almost 100% normal.   I have a follow up Tom with the ob that did my c section hopefully to get the clear to go up and down the stairs so I can finally sleep in my own bed haha.

I had one after 27 hours of natural labor and then 8 he's of medical labor and still no baby. That was my first. I was so sad and cried during the whole thing. But then I held him and he was amazing and healthy and nursed well. I only had to stay in the hospital 2 days instead of the normal 3-4 because my recovery went so well. It doesn't have to be too bad and this time I'm trying for a vbac.
