Can Some Please Shed A Little Light

Hi. I'm 23 years old and Jan. 22 2014 I found out I was Pregnant. I called my ob and set up an appointment on February 20. Now according to when my last period was (Dec 25 2013) I should be 8weeks by time my appointment comes around. I also want to let you know that about a week after my period I ovulated and me and my husband got busy 3 times during that week.  When I went to my appointment my ob did a transvaginal u/s and saw only the sac but no baby. She told me that she thinks that something is wrong or that I just could be a little earlier than expected. So that same day she set me up to have a complete dating u/s at the main hospital down the street. The u/s tech saw only a sac but my baby but also said that from what she sees I'm bout 6 weeks and 5 days so the baby could pop up at any time. Which when calculated from when I ovulated adds up. She also had me go to the lab and get blood work done. A couple days later I received a call stating that my hcg levels are pretty high and I did not need to worry so she scheduled me for a second dating scan just to get a correct delivery date a week later.  When went to get the second u/s the scan still showed the sac but no baby. At this time I'm about 7 weeks and 5 days and my blood work showed that my hcg levels are 35000 close to 36000. I received a call from ob who tells me that with hcg levels that high the heartbeat should visible through the scan. I feel as though it's still to early for I'm not yet 8 weeks and the time you usually are set up for your 1st prenatal visit is at your 8 week mark. My ob suggested that I get a d&c because I'm miscarring but iv no had signs or symptoms of one yet ans it's been a couple days since the last test. Also I feel I should wait a couple more weeks and get another u/s at my 9 week mark just to be sure because by then a heart beat definitely be visible. Am I doing the right thing or should I just put myself out of my own misery and get a d&c?? Help!!

Go by what your gut tells you. If you're not ready for a d&c then don't get one. Some doctors are quick to do one. Maybe get your levels checked again and see if they are going up or down. If you are miscarrying the numbers will go down.

Unless you are in trouble from fever or bleeding, I see no real problem in waiting a couple more weeks, but in your shoes I wouldn't wait longer since you would have the risk of creating a situation in which your uterus gets some scarring from the tissue inside it.  But you are certainly within your rights to want to be sure.  It seems you've seen a sac and no baby but have high hCG levels, correct?  You need to ask the doctor what he or she makes of those high hCG levels -- is a molar pregnancy suspected (or ruled out?)  Is there is any chance of an ectopic somewhere else besides your uterus, to cause such a high number?  (In the latter scenario, this would be in addition the sac they are seeing in your uterus.)
