I'm pretty easy going for just about everything so I think I'll have a fairly minimal birth plan. Honestly, I want the option for an epidural and want everything explained to me before being done (if possible) or as I ask about it. When I look at sample birth plans online, I find my responses are pretty much all "sure, why not" or "I don't really care one way or the other." I'm one of those crazy people who have a fairly high opinion of doctors' talents and intentions and tend to just happily do as they say anyway. In the end, we'll see if works out for me our not!! :-)
I call is birth preferences instead of a plan... I had a vaginal delivery without any medication. My "plan" was followed almost to a t. It was more for me and my husband than anyone else. I plan to keep it just about the same and use it again for my second baby. I pray to have as smooth of an experience this time around, but it def helped to have an idea of what I wanted and for it to be in writing for anyone else to see... Good luck and God bless!
As I learned, nothing will go as planed!
I was induced for my first since I had gestational diabetes. I only dilated 4 cm. So had to go in for a c section.
This babe, I'm opting for a c-section because it will be Healthier and safer for the baby and I.
We are doing a water birth with as few interventions as possible. No iv no monitoring on the belly no epistiotomy under ANY circumstances. I have a tour of the water birth facilities in the hospital in aug. And i am due oct 9th.
I'm planning a home birth with birthing pool. Still plenty of time to prepare and discuss options with the midwives as I'm due Oct. I am not having a hospital delivery because I don't want my birth to be forced or on anyone else's agenda; I don't want any interventions nor do I want to have decisions made for me (as I find doctors do) I want to be in control as far as possible and for things to happen on the baby's schedule.
I remember making a birth plan with my first 2 children. Both were early and both went smoothly no complications. But my birth plans went entirely to hades in a hand basket with both. With my first, my Dr was on vacation. The nurses refused to let me use my own nightgown or pillow. My birth ball yup that was a no go too. Me being strong enough to go pain med free? That wasn't happening either. With my second, my so didn't receive the message at work that I had gone into labor until I was already fully dialated. There were 5 other women in labor so I missed out on an epidural ( I waited to ask until my pain level was to much to bare ) with my last one, I had no birth plan. And pleased to say no disappointments. Moral of the story you can plan all you want, but expected the unexpected.
