heating pad?

Is using a heating pad safe in pregnancy? I'm using it on my lower back. Had a pinched nerve and back is flaring up again. They didn't let me use the heated table at the chiropractor so I'm not sure about it. Thanks for advice. Definitely don't wanna cause any harm.

I asked in local pharmacy about using a heat patch and they said you can't when pregnant as there is something in the patch that's released.this was a "cura-heat" pad .I was advised to stick to a warm hot water bottle x

Happy to help! Mayo Clinic website also recommends cold packs in addition to heat, as well as sleeping on your side with knees bent. Good luck!

I don't see what harm a heating pad (or table) could do. Hot tubs aren't recommended for pregnant women because you don't want to raise your internal temp too much, but an external source like a pad won't do that. Heating pad is listed on this app as a treatment in the calendar section as well so I would feel okay using one. I would ask your GYN if you have concernss about pregnancy safety, not the chiropractor. Feel better - back pain's awful.
