Gibson Edgle is here! 9-10-08

Hello everyone! I just wanted to announce the birth of my son! Gibson Edgle! He was born on Wednesday, September 10, 2008! I was sent in for induction at 6am Wednesday morning! Labor started not long after. I was given pitocin to start contractions at 6:20am. I was checked at 8am and was 4 cm dilated, not long after I asked for the Epidural. The epidural went horribly... he had to do it two times, the first time he could not get in between the bones and the second time he hit a nerve. I was in the hunched over position for 30 minutes while he tried to get it to take. It was so painful! Finally after he got the epidural to take I was allowed to lay back down, my husband said I bled all over the place from him trying to get it in. When I laid down I noticed I had a head ache... then I got a nose bleed. They were very concerned something had went wrong with the epidural. It took a long time for me to feel relief. I finally started to feel better! at 10am they checked me and I was dilated to 5cm and 90% effaced. His head was -1 station. They let me rest and checked me again at 12:45pm and I was dilated to 6cm, still 90% and -1 station. We decided it was time to call my parents and in laws to have them start getting ready to come to the hospital. We figured it would be another few hours before he was born. My in laws arrived at 1:15pm and all of a sudden i started feeling a crazy amount of pressure! It was insane, all of a sudden it was the urge to push. I told my husband to get the nurse and he said, "remember she told us she was going to lunch" I said I don't care GET HER NOW! They called for our nurse and she was at lunch so another one checked me and I was 10cm and crowning!!! It was crazy I could feel everything, the epidural was wearing off. They then made me blow for 15 minutes! 15 MINUTES because my doctor was on her way back to the hospital from dropping her daughter off at home. It was awful, they gave me more epidural and that started to help. It was just getting better and the doc arrived. She got me ready and in one contraction... first push crowning, second push head came out, third push he was here! It was so fast I am still in shock! Absolutely amazing experience. 1:37pm he arrived! Gibson weighs in at 8 pounds 11 ounces and 20 1/4 inches long! He has brown hair and steel blue eyes just like his sister! My mother, father and daughter arrived right after he was born, My Amelia was so excited to hear her brother!  He is amazing, breast feeding is going so smoothly and I feel so lucky. I am feeling great, not swollen at all. The only pain I am feeling is my back is sore from the epidural! I can handle that. I am just ecstatic about having my son. Our family is complete! My daughter loves him so much and has kissed him ten thousand times since his birth! It was just perfect all around. I'll post pictures tomorrow!
