i always felt crappy that im disabled and cannot work, but its sort of a blessing after having a baby cause i get as much time as i need and my paychecks stay the same!
of course the US is really unfair about how much they give to disabled peopel per month, i honestly dont see how they expect you to live on next to nothing.
i get 700 a month. thats it! for rent bills and i have a 5 year old son!
its freaggin absurd!
I work in a car dealership scheduling appointments for the service department, so I am at my desk all day. I will get to have McKenzi right next to me all day. With the exception of when my coworker next to me baby naps her. She is as excited I am having a baby as we are. Lol!!!
wow... that sure doesnt seem like much time off. you're not even completely healed after 6 weeks. thats insane!!
you get to take your baby to work?? is there a daycare center there? what kind of job do you have?
Wow, a full year? Thats awesome. I get six weeks and the c section is scheduled for Sept 10th which is a Wednesday so I am making the Friday before my last day. Ill technically be taking 7 weeks off, but 6 of it is paid at 60%. So, I am hoping we can make sure bills and things are paid with that and my honey's income for the time I am off. I think October will be the hardest month, but we will make it. I get to take McKenzi to work with me when I go back though, so we wont have to worry about childcare until she is at least or 8 months old. I am hoping by then Ill have my PartyLite biz up and going well enough to be able to be a stay at home mom and just do my biz to make up for my income. Tax returns wont be as good, but oh well. ANyways, gotta jet. Ill talk to ya later.
i guess its nice that some of your leave gets paid... but to gradually cut you off??.... its almost like they are teasing you. haha i guess the government really wants all you ladies to GET BACK TO WORK!! lol
i am due in 25th Sep and planning to go off mid August... I am feeling very tired already... In the UK we also get 1 year off maternity leave but not all paid... pay gets reduced every month up to 9 months and after that there is no pay...
I'll work until 2-3 weeks before my due date (depends on how hot the summer is and how swollen I get!!).
I get 8 wks at 100% pay, but I'll probably take closer to 8 months off :) Can't wait...
Hello everyone,
I get one month off before my due date and depending if it's vaginal or c-section, I get off 6-8wks paid. I have accumulated extra time at my job and haven't used 4wks of my vacation, so my goal is to return when the baby is 5-6mos. I'm pretty lucky its at a complete pay rate. I can also take a year off if I want, but it's not paid so I guess I'll have no choice but to go back to work. I need a babysitter! I hope I find someone dependable and trustworthy.
i always thought that only bringing home 55% of my wage every month was crappy... but when i see what you guys get for benefits, i really have to consider us canadians very lucky. i cant believe there isnt any government help or anything to assist you. thats so not fair!!
i would love to be a stay at home mommy. i worry about moeny too much, so i plan on going back to work after my year... and taking it from there.my boss has made me an amazing offer. he said if i do decide to come back after my maternity leave that he would pay for all my daycare as long as i kept working for him! i was shocked. im not sure what the daycare rates are anywhere else, but he's gonna be saving me about $1400 a month! so... i definately plan on coming back to work for him.
Wow... 55% of your wage/month... that's fantastic! Now if only the U.S. would do the same thing... =)
I'm not quite sure yet when I'm leaving work. All I know is that I will definitely not be working by August 15th (which is a couple weeks before my due date - Sept 3) b/c the company I work for will no longer exist. The actual company itself is closing/dissolving on that date so unless I decide or need to leave earlier, I guess my last day will be Aug 15th. Luckily, getting laid off isn't so bad b/c I'm planning on being a stay-at-home mom until my baby is old enough to attend preschool/kindergarten. It'll be quite tight (financially) for the first couple years, but my husband and I think it's worth it.
Canada has it figured out, I swear!!! LOL anyway I am taking 12 weeks off under the FMLA (Family & Medical Leave Act). It's unpaid leave, but my benefits remain, which is good. I will qualify for short-term disability so I will get close to my normal paycheck each month. My due date is September 20 and I plan to make September 12th my last day. I am soooo looking forward to it!!! My dream has always been to be a stay-at-home mom (or only work like 4 hours a day outside the home) until my child is in preschool or kindergarten.... DH and I are trying to figure out a way to make that happen. The first years are so priceless and I think it's SO worth living on a shoestring budget for a couple years to spend the time w/my little one. Only time will tell, I suppose!! I feel like time is going by soooooo slooooow now.... 8 weeks feels like an eternity!!!
yeah... a full year. its pretty nice. and we get paid 55% of our wage every month.
YOU GET A FULL YEAR~~ omg! so jealous.. do you get paid for it too??
I'm working up until my water breaks.. better it happens at work than my home.. heheh.. :)
