1)Pumping and Bottle Feeding 2) How much weight is your baby gaining?

Ok, i am pumping and storing my breastmilk, at times i also give her the breastmilk in a bottle, also at night she gets two bottles of formula (so i can sleep)  But i will be going back to work when she is 8weeks, how often do i need to pump to be able to have enough feedings for her, and what if i wanted to jus give her the breastmilk threw the bottle from this day forward how often do i need to pump.  It seems as if i would need to pump almost every 2 hours, someone please tell me i dont have to pump that much:(  Breastfeeding has been the most challenging thing i think ive ever done lol.

At Trinity's week apt she weighed 8lbs 8oz, she was 7lbs.15.2oz at birth and only lost 2 oz on discharge.  She seems a little greedy, she is only a week and 3 days and consumes 3oz and somedays 4oz, is this normal, my son is 14 and i surely cant remember how much he ate.  I just dont want to feel like im over feeding her, but she makes it known when she is hungry, she will stick her tongue out if i try and give her a pacy so i cant put it in her mouth. Then she yells out and turns her head to the side as if she is looking for the breast.

Latrice, I am pumping everery 2-3 hours and getting like 4-5 onz per breast.

Chantal is right, your breast will remind you when it's time to pump. LOL. Brandon is getting like 3 onz of breastmilk per feeding sometimes 2 1/5. I took him today to the PE b/c he has not passed a stool that frequent and it's b/c of the formula at night. He is not taking the formula too well and it has been changed to Similac for fussy babies....I only give him one to two bottles per night so I can sleep too. I try to pump for at least one full hour and drink plenty of liquids throughout the day.

I hope this helps. I have started to freeze my supply too, so we'll see how it goes.

You should be pumping as often as she eats. The older our babies get, the longer they will be able to go in between feedings. If it were me, I would be sure to pump at least every 2 hours and maybe you can eventually go to every 2-4 hours. Also, your breasts will get full and remind you! lol. Like today, I realized jesse hadn't eaten in 3 hours and my breasts were hurting because they were so full!!

She seems to be gaining just fine! =) My son was 7lbs 2oz at birth and dropped to 6lbs 10oz within 3 days. At 2 weeks he was only 6lbs 13oz and he just had his 3 week check-up today and is now 7lbs 14oz. I feel he is gaining slow for how much he eats, but the doc said he was fine. All babies grow at different rates.

They say that you're suspose to be pumping at pretty much the same times that you would be feeding her, and that might be every 2 hours now, but it will change in the weeks to come.

My son was dischaged from the hospital weighing 6lbs 13oz(born 7lbs 1oz) and his doc apt Sat. 9/19/09(3 days later) he was back up around 7lbs 3oz, he's defintally a hungry little boy.  We wont know anything more until Thursday 10/1, that will be his next doc apt.  Also my son varies between 2oz all the way to 4oz at times, I'm not sure why.  Tho I do almost dread giving him the 2oz, espically at night cuz he gets hungry more often, which means I get up more at night.  But I do have to add that when Owen is hungry he makes it known as well, he will spit his pacifer right out the side of his mouth as you try and use that while you're making a bottle or changing him before feeding him.  And he will use his hands to try and find something to suck on... which can be frusterating when you're trying to put the bottel in his mouth, but it's defintally getting better!

And I think that your baby is fine with what she's getting, they say that they go through a growth spert around 3wks of age, and maybe your baby is ahead of the game or she storing some fat for that point.  Who knows, but I wouldn't say she's greedy, at least not at this point, as as long as your producing enough milk and she's not getting a belly ach afterward, I wouldn't worry about it.
