I think its a personal choice, there is nothing wrong with starting to shop now.

Well i must admitt, me and the Ex had talked about having a baby in 07, so  december of 07 i had starting buying items (was not even preggo or ttc at the time) then we got preggo in May of 08. so i had a suitcase full of sleepers, onesies, wash clothes, the lil baby rack to wash baby in, etc. and a big box full of toys.  Then i had a m/c in june. Once i got a BFP in Jan 09, i did buy a few things.  Month 3 i started buyn boxes of diapers from sams club so i have 6 boxes of diapers right now sizes 1-2 (3boxes) and size 3(3boxes)  and one box of wipes.  My bestfriend and cousin both have daughters ages 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 and i have a ton of clothes, my cousin in so into designer clothes so i have a lot of desinger clothes for the baby up to age 2, Me personally, i shop at all types of stores. All my big items are on the registry except the baby bed n furniture, which im debating on getting next month, im still undecided on what bed i want, my two sisters are helping purchase it.  My family memembers and friends are already discussing what items they are going to buy, its so funny bcuz i didnt even tell them i did a registry and they looked me up anyways lol.  People are already starting to buy items off the registry. and i havent sent out invitations yet:)  Gona wait until after my sisters 30th b-day party on june 5th.

My note pads came today, i think they are cute, its basicly a note pad thanking them for joining us and also a pencil that says thanks for coming. It will go in the party savor bag with the personalized bag of popcorn.

Time is flying quickly, i stand on my feet so much at work im starting to get afraid that i may have the baby early.  I also read that somewhere, standing long periods also cause pre-term labor:(  so i want to be prepared for baby.

Hey Ladies, i weve been pretty nervous about buying things too. we already have all the nursery stuff, all we are going to be doing there is changing the bedding and we havent bought that yet. the only new things we have bought is the stroller and carseat and a few onsies...i think we are going to wait till after the babyshowers, that way we have any gift cards or cash given and that way we dont buy stuff that others buy us too...its scary though!! i am so thrilled to be past where i was last time...i feel much better too and have a visit with my peri today, cannot wait to see our little boy and how big he is now...((HUGS))

Hello ladies!

I am 24 weeks today (WOO HOO) and I have only purchased four onesies! LOL They are Disney themed and I got them from Walmart ($5 for two).  I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I have a 26 year old stepdaughter who is so excited about having a little sister. She told me the other day that she has already purchased over fifty onesies (different sizes), she has alos purchased t-shirts, wash clothes, socks and clothes. My best friend,  aunts and cousins have also purchased lots of stuff already too...my DH and I will purchase the furniture next month and then we will wait until after the shower to see what else we will need. We have so many people who were waiting onus to have a baby and can't wait to buy us things...I don't think I will need to purchase her anything for about six months to a year! It is such a blessing!

I have just now posted a picture on my profile of a few things we've bought so far ~ check it out.  We also have much more but I just snapped a picture of some of the things we have in our dining room.

My hubby has even started our room addition!  (Well, it's only putting up a dividing wall, really.  But so exciting, it feels like the babies are on their way to me very soon.

Over the weekend, I bought some nursery wall letters off ebay, spelling the girls names.  They are going to be polka dot to match their bedding sets.  It's amazing how those letters can be made to match pretty much any theme you're using for your nursery.   So pretty.

I haven't bought anything yet, but this is my 6th child, 5th girl.  So, I have plenty of clothes and things like that.  But I will buy her something.  And others will too so I am not worried about it.  But I can certainly understand a first time mom and even someone that hasn't had a baby for a while buying things now.  I think it's time really.  So I also say go for it!!!

I'm right there with Momofboys! I started buying little outfits about two weeks after I found out I was pregnant. Good thing I'm having a girl because I've always bought pink!

I have a bassinete that's full of baby clothes right now. Only the stuff I see and have to buy not the essentials yet. This week dh and I are starting to buy diapers. We go to Costco twice a month and starting with this weeks trip we plan to grab a box of diapers and wipes every time we go.

My shower is June 20th and so I'll wait until a week or so after that before I go back to the store and get everything else I need. I had my first baby early and was on bedrest so I didn't have a chance for a shower or to go shopping and was very unprepared. This time I'm going in early and plan to have 100% of our baby stuff in order before mid July.

I say go for it! I had dinner with a woman the other day who is also 23 weeks and she hasn't bought a single thing! I couldn't believe it how can you walk past a baby store and not at least pick up a onesie?

Well considering all the stuff you need to get for a baby, especially if you don't have baby stuff already, it doesn' hurt to start getting stuff early.   I started at about 18 or 19 weeks to really start making purchases.  I waited until my ultrasound in which they could tell me the gender.

I haven't made big purchases....just little purchases....we haven't got a crib or bassinet quite yet, but I've bought a lot of little things.

I also bought some used stuff.  This lady had a post on Craigs list and I got a baby einstein jumperoo, bath tub, stroller, baby pod, pack N play, high chair and a ton (and I mean ton) of baby girl clothes and very nice things too.  She had several things from 0/3 months to 12 months.  I realize some I can't use right now, but eventually I will.   And for all this I paid about $150.00 for.  It was a good deal. I really don't mind the fact that the clothes were used...you can't even tell, and baby's grow sooooo fast.

Our baby is due sept 3, but I'm having a c-section on 8/26 or 8/27.  We have yet to make the bigger purchases and I have about 30 things left on my list, but I will probably do that come the end of July.   So in July we'll have a very big shopping day at babies r us and USA baby.   I've held off on the bigger stuff  as we've had problems in our past pregnancies so I'm a bit superstitious and afraid to jinx.  I'm trying to follow Jewish tradition which says you don't bring baby stuff into the house until after the baby is born (we've kept stuff in the shed).

Also my MIL as much as I've been complaining about lately went crazy and brought over a ton of baby stuff this weekend.

WELL, I'm guilty of starting to buy stuff the day I got a +ive blood test at the dr.  LOL   (Just a couple of pink onesies is all.)  I'll admit I'm way in over my head by now.  I have a shower coming up next month and honestly, we don't need a single stitch of baby clothes b/c we've bought so much already.  BUT,,,  the solution to that is putting the phrase "diapers please" on my shower invitations.  (Expecting twin girls!)  In a way, I am glad I've got a lot of shopping done already, b/c I'm starting to get huge and miserable and I'm not able to get out a whole lot.

P.S. To answer your question I think it's definitely a good time to start browsing, and if you find some things you just love, GO FOR IT!

...I know it's a little scary after having a pre-term delivery...  I'm in the same boat with you on that, although my previous children weren't quite as premature as yours was.  Hopefully they are watching you closer this time.  My dr. has put me on progesterone injections (weekly) as a preventive measure.  Oh and they check my cervix every two weeks, and will start doing some Fetal Fibronectin cultures soon (it tells if you will deliver within the next two weeks.)

This is the thing i dont know when im going to feel ready, but feel i should start because i had my last son at 25 weeks and had nothing for him and found it hard work running about buying things like breast pumps and being at the hospital with him.

My goal was to get to 24 weeks before buying anything.  I had a few issues early on in the pregnancy and wanted to focus on me and baby before all the "stuff".  I just reached 24 weeks and purchased a few sleepers, started researching furniture and my list for registry etc.

I know a lot of the other ladies are well ahead of me!  I think it is personal preference as to when you feel like starting to shop! :)
