Canadian mommies out there?

This is my first pregnancy and i was wondering if there are any canadian mommies out there that could answer any questions i will have along the way. I feel as though many things are done differently here than our neighbours to the south!

Yay! It so nice that there are some Canadian mommies on here! Im thinking I might start up a group for Canadian mommies! I was thinking....Pre pregnancy, Post pregnancy and everything in between!!
I got my doppler that I got off Ebay today! It works great and I heard baby's heartbeat!! I also have my ultrasound app. made for in April! I cant believe Im 15 weeks already!

What do you look for when you're looking for a midwife? Theirs two different agencies, and a total of 4 midwives in my town so I have no idea where to start!

Yes I would be looking for midwife now!!!
Im going to see my midwife for the second time on wednesday.
Im so excited.
When I went two weeks ago we heard baby's heartbeat!
I love hearing that sound.

How are all of you canadian mommies doing? I'm going in on Monday to see my doctor for my 14week appointment, and he'll be scheduling me in for another ultrasound for once I'm 18 weeks! I'm super excited and can't believe I'm already starting my 2nd trimester! I also seriously have to start calling around for midwives soon, I'm nervous about that though lol.

Oh oh also, Toys R Us is having a super awesome sale and I already bought babies crib, and a rocking chair! I can't wait until the reno's in my house are done and I can start setting up the nursery!

I had my first ultrasound March 9 and everything was looking good. I was measuring 12 weeks 2 days. I had the ultrasound done because we chose to have the IPS testing. First pregnancy for myself and my BF. It was sooo AMAZING. I couldn't believe I saw a baby growing inside me!!! So wonderful.

i'm a canadian mommy (manitoba). one teen (15) and a recent pregnancy, but i haven't seen my obstetrician yet so i'm guessing i'm only about 4.5 weeks or so.

it's been so long since i had a baby i can't remember when i had an ultrasound with my first.;)  however, my sister who recently had a baby said she only had an ultrasound when she was about 18 wks.

seems they only do one or two per pregnancy, unless there are complications or the pregnancy is high risk.

Ok so its common..good to know because i was wondering why i was reading all these women getting ultrasounds so early in the pregnancy..sounds good

Here in Canada we dont usually have an ultrasound until the 18th to 20th week. If you are having problems or have had problems then you could get lucky. I had a m/c last year in Jan. so my doc was kind enough to give me some peace if mind by letting me go early at 8 weeks.

Hello everyone, Im from Ontario and im due Sept 23, I was wondering how come I've been reading about other expectant mothers getting ultrasounds so early in the preganancy but im being told no ultrasounds until the 18th ish week. Is that common here in canada as apposed to the states?

Hi~
I am now 11w 3d! I had a m/c (miscarriage) last year at 6.5 weeks, the day after I had my ultrasound (because I was bleeding) everything was fine....Still no one has any idea why it happened!
My older sister and younger sister in law are both expecting as well, their due dates are Oct. 2 and 3rd. :)
I have already had an ultrasound, at 8 weeks, my doc most days is wonderful!  
How exciting that you have your ultrasound! How did it go?

Hi :) I'm 10w4d atm! And I live in BC! Would definitely be great to hear your guys stories as we go along about dealing with hospitals, doctors, and the whole system of things!

I'm going for my first ultrasound tommoorrwww! I'll make sure to post pictures I'm super super excited! When do you guys go for your ultrasounds?
