Thursday Touchbase - Week of August 26/2010

Hope noone minds I posted this weeks touchbase.

I am finally 36 weeks, one more week before this baby is fully cooked! I hope he comes sometime next week, I am ready for him to get here!

Had my 35 week appt yesterday, doc did the GBS test and sad to say that him swabbing my va jay jay is the most action it has seen in a long time...lol

Nothing new to report, baby is still in good position, I am hoping next tues at my 36 week appt he will check for dilation and effacement, I also hope I get one more us, I want to see Fynn in my belly one more time before he gets here.

I have started to massage my perenium in hopes it will help to prevent tearing on the big day, I asked the doc and he gave me the go ahead and said it was definatley worth doing, I just hope I will be able to reach down there, I think I will make it!

Can't wait to hear how everyone elses week went!

I know I don't post on here a lot, but I do check every once in a while! Just wanted to announce to anyone who wants to listen because I'm so excited that my 2nd baby girl arrived Aug. 25th at 1:49 P.M.! Weighing in at 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 20 in. I was scheduled to be induced the 26th, but Wednesday morning my water broke at 8:30 A.M.! I was so blessed and had a very quick labor and delivery! Like I said my water broke at 8:30 AM I got to the hospital about 9:15 AM (contractions started quickly after) I was checked and was still at a 4 but 95% effaced! I got my epidural around 11 AM and was feeling so good! Even got a 30 min. nap! My husband decided to go and get something to eat real quick! But he had to throw his lunch away as soon as he got it and run back upstairs because by 1:15 I was dilated to a 10 (much to my surprise) And she was born at !:49 PM! I am still feeling great! A little crampy but all I have to do is look at my sweet baby and it's all worth it! Anyway just wanted to announce! Good Luck to the rest of you... hope all your big days go smoothly!

Everybody is getting so close or already having their babies - how exciting!!

I had my 39 week appointment yesterday.  My cervix is soft and the baby is a little lower (and head down thank goodness!) but my cervix is still a little posterior.  I am hoping that he waits until late next week because I still have so much work to get done for my job and I would love to just be able to relax with my little man once he comes.  Also, while I am miserable because I my pelvis hurts so much, this may be my last time being pregnant, so I sort of don't want it to end (and, I'll admit that I am a little afraid of the birth process).  It still does not seem real that I will have a little person to take care of in a few days or weeks.

bellabits:  do not feel bad for even one minute for going to the hospital - you did the right thing.  You are in real labor, it is just that you have a "puttering" type of labor that starts and stops - it is not that uncommon.  Eventually your contractions will become more regular and then the hospital will want to keep you - but the longer that takes, the better as you are only 35 weeks.  Look at this way, once your labor becomes more regular, you will be more than halfway there!  I hope you are not too uncomfortable.  Hang in there.  And, if you are ever in doubt - it never hurts to go in and get checked/monitored.  Keep in mind that by the time your contractions are more regular, you may be in the transition phase of labor (from 7-10 cm) and that does not tend to last long, so you should not delay if you think things are speeding up for you.  Best of luck!

jennyb473:  good luck!!!!  I'll be thinking about you today.  Definitely keep us posted.

losing my mind:  You do definitely deserve some good, happy news this summer.  I know it has been an especially hard time.  I hope your little princess gets here soon.

jennyb473: the no food-torture is becuase they don't want you getting nauseaus from the anasthesia and puking on the operating table and aspirating it...that could complicate things.  But once you're in there food will be the last of your worries :) Can't wait to hear how everything goes and see pics

Clysta:  "engaged" means baby is in position and ready to go when the time is right

As for me, I am 38 weeks today.  As of last monday I had no dialation, cervix is still "softening" baby is still "high".  It seems my BH contx are increasing in frequency as the days go by ...they've increased in intensity a little...raelly uncomfortable but not enough to do anything.  I've noticed she has been rather lazy the last couple of days.  I think yesterday it was in part atleast to the fact thta I took a benadryl and it kicked my butt, I pretty much slept most of the day.  I'm so ready for her to be her.  Aside from wanting my hormones to go back to normal so the mucus production will decrease and I won't have such a time with my allergies, I raelly need something HAPPY and EXCITING after everything I've been through this summer.

My next appt is this coming Tuesday so we'll see if I've done anything by then.   I did see in my chart that my GBS was neg. so that's good.  Occasionally I get pressure in my cervix and I swear it feels like my water is going to burst at any given second, but it doesn't .  I want to walk to try and bring on labor but my legs have swollen so bad it's hard to walk.

I'm heading out to the hospital in about half hour to meet my little man!!!  I'm 39w1d today and my c-section is scheduled for 7am!  I'm starving....why do they torture us with no food???

I'm super excited and nervous, scared and sad all at the same time.  My DD is at my mom's and will be heading to the hospital when they wake up this morning, I cannot wait to see her reaction to meeting her baby brother!

I'll post details and pictures later!!!!!!!!!!

Wish me luck!

So I called my dr this morning and theysaid if I had 6 or more contractions in 1 hour to stop by and he'd check me. So I did and since Monday I had gone from 2 cm/50% to 4-5cm 60% baby at -1 and bag of water buldging...bc I am 35wks 4 days they sent me to triage to be monitored and after 3 hours with no internal change have been sent home. I have no idea what to think, I feel so neurotic for going to the hospital and am afraid of going back until I know for sure this is true labor, but if it wasn't labor how did the dilation change...oh well, she's gonna come when she's ready so here's to waiting it out =)

I forgot to mention that the doc guesstimated the baby's weight just by feel and he thinks 6.5 to 7 lbs already, I am only 36 weeks! I really hope he doesnt get to much bigger.

I'm 37 weeks now and had my appointment on Monday. They did the GBS test, and I'll find out the results this Monday when I go back in. I think it will be negative though. I was tested for it sometime in June (?) as well. Midwife said she didn't see any dilation, but baby is head down and quite low. She said she was "engaged". Whatever that means.

to me its not relaxing like a massage. they do set the room with dim lights, music and scents though. most people seem very relaxed and are sleeping away, but I just sit there with my eyes open like "something happen already!"  i've never had acupuncture before so i dont really know what to think of it. I'm actually wondering now if its against my religion.

anyways, i just lost more of my plug -- hope that means something!

I'm 39 wks today. I had a massage Tuesday morning to try and bring on labor. I had cramping all day for about 12-14 hours but it then stopped and nothing in the last 2 days.

I had my last ultrasound today and she looks great. I got to see her face for the first time she still had a hand in front but more to one side this time. She's gonna have chubby cheeks. Her foot is in my ribs which I figured that's what she keeps pushing on me with. She's gonna have long and skinny feet. If I can get to my dads and hook my scanner up I'll post the pics.

They are saying she weighs 6lbs I forgot how many ounces. Meausuring in the 27 %tile  So she won't be a big baby which I'm very thankful for.

I will be getting induced on Sunday August 29th. I am super excited but so nervous. I hope to still go into labor on my own before but unlikely.

My inlaws had planned on going out of town from Sun-thur. I don't understand why they would plan a trip knowing when my due date was and the fact I could go into labor at anytime. They cancelled their trip now that I am having an induction.

I have only 3 days left. I can't wait.

Wow 39 weeks....you are sooo close, it must be killing you to be so cloese...i cant wait till i can say 1 more week to go!!!!

Hopefully the acupuncture helps out....does it feel good when you get it? like is it relaxing on any level, such as a massgae? or completely different? I find out on tues whether or not I am + or - for the GBS test.

I hope everything goes well and that your LO comes on its due date!

i just had my 39 week appt yesterday. my doc didnt manually check again, but thats ok with me because im gbs positive and i really dont want anything in there anyway. i lost some of my plug over a week ago but i dont think ive lost any since so im not really sure what is going on down there.. i asked my doctor about his policies on medical inductions (although i do not want to do it unless medically necessary) and he discourages them and wont do them before 41 weeks, (schedules them on fridays) which makes sense to me anyway. so i would be 10 days late - i hope she comes by then!

i had a second (and last) session of acupuncture today to induce labor not feeling any different yet :(
