Anyone have an early pregnancy scan?

I just had an early pregnancy scan and found the experience very unnerving. I had some spotting a couple of weeks ago but since then had my levels checked and they are great and saw the heartbeat Saturday, though we didn't yet get a count. Then I went to the imaging center for a scan my dr had planned when I was worried and I thought they would give me a due date and heart rate. Instead she didn't take a heart rate, we didn't see the blinking this time, and the tech couldn't answer any of my questions and was very cryptic. Now I feel like something is wrong and she is just not telling me and I have to wait three days before my dr has the measurements and photos. The only thing she did say was that it was too early to worry, only a little over 5 weeks, and my dr had said 8 weeks.

Have any of you had a scan and did they tell you anything then and there? I feel fine and was so excited to see the heart just two days ago and am distressed it was not there this time since this is supposed to be able to see the heartbeat even earlier and more clearly.

So I had my first ultrasound today. They estimate me being at 7 weeks 3 days. They had to do an internal ultrasound to hear the heartbeat. I was so relieved when i heard the heartbeat. The heartbeat was registering at 123 BPM which i guess is normal. Other than that information we don't know a whole lot and will have to wait until we see the doc to get make sure everything is good. I was just so relieved to hear the heartbeat. I could not sleep pretty much all week worrying about it because i havent had many symptoms so i was worried. Anyways, that's my update...hope everyone else is doing great!

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my thoughts as well. I go for my first ultrasound tomorrow and I am very nervous. I haven't really had the pregnant feelings anymore so I am a little worried about that. I will keep you all posted. Best of luck going forward.

Sorry you have all this worry and have to wait to hear back from the doc. All the waiting we have to do stinks. I go for my 1st scan on Mon, will be 6w6d. They said I will likely see the hb but sometimes can't yet at that point. I have heard it can really depend on the machine and the person doing it. Try not to worry too much. Do you have another scan scheduled?

hey and if you were just 5 weeks you would have not heard the heartbeat. Prob the tech has made an error.

my last pregnancy, which I lost I was under fertility treatment and I had quite a few u/s. It was very stressful.  Particularly the very early ones - when it really is too soon to see anything.... but still looking.

This time I'm not doing any early scans.  I'll only get a scan if I start bleeding (ie potential problem) or maybe one at 20 weeks.  till then will just take it as it comes.

You should post this is the pregnancy forum where a lot more people that might have had a similar experience would be able to respond to it.

My doctor told me I am about 6 weeks along and he is sending me for an ultrasound next Friday and I am a little worried about it too because I also had some spotting which I have been told is normal, but it just always worries you. I will let you know how I make out next Friday and we can compare our experiences. I have the whole thing mapped out in my head and I am thinking it will be nothing like that and will be disappointed.

My doctors have repeatedly told me I wasn't as far as everyone had thought becuase of my ultrasounds.  I would wait and try not to worry about anything until you've heard from the doctor's.  I also think that different technicians will see different things with all of that equiptment.  Once person may be able to possition it in the exact right spot to see the heartbeat and then the next person may not get it exactly right which could account for not seeing the heartbeat this time.  I'm hoping when I go for my 3rd ultrasound tomorrow, they will actually tell me how far I really am!
