After birth question

So I gave birth to my son on the 17th of this month! Perfect little healthy baby :) I had a vaginal birth & I ripped a little, honestly didn't feel a thing! But my question is, for the moms who've gaven vaginal birth, do any of you know for how long you bled for & around when it'll end? & is all this blood basically like my period? Or is it from the stitches? Also, just to be on the safe side, when is the perfect time to start having sex again? Sorry for all the questions lol just curious.

I ripped pretty bad. They said if I bled anymore  (from delivering my daughter 4 yrs ago) that I would of had to have a blood transfusion. :( and I bled for 6 weeks after I had her and it was horrible. I also waited about 8 to 9 weeks for intercourse cuz I was so scared. I'm 38 weeks tom. And have been praying for a better delivery this time.

I bled for a week or so after my first and 6 weeks after my second. I was told to wait till the 6 week checkup to have sex even if you aren't bleeding. I waited about 2 months though after both my babies.

4-6 weeks is the average.. some women only bleed for a week or two. it all depends on how long it takes your uterus to heal. the bleeding comes from your uterus contracting back to normal size, and the bleeding also comes from where the placenta was attached to the uterine wall. And bleeding after is in fact NOT your period!!!

I had my little one on the 23rd of June and I am still bleeding. It lasts however long it wants. I heard anything up to 2-3 months. Talk to ur doc before considering intercourse. My doc said nothing up there for a minimum of 6 weeks. Remember once you do start having sex again, you are extremely fertile!!! If you do not want Irish twins use protection. Congratulations on a happy and healthy baby boy!

Congratulations on your new little one. Bleeding after giving birth is your period. It usually last for 3 months after birth. I waited to have intercourse after 4 Months just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps a little bit

the bleeding is the lining of your uterus just flushing out it's perfectly normal after a vaginal birth. It should stop about 3 weeks or so after but also keep in mind every woman is different.. And it's always best to talk to your ob. Before having sex especially with stitches. Whatever you do, do not have sex with the stitches, they are there so you can heal properly. (You don't want those ripping out.)
