Dentists...

Hi ladies. So i'm 18 weeks today. Lately ive been noticing a lot of pain in my mouth recently & it gets worse everyday. Yes, I know it's common, my doctor already told me but this pregnancy triggered something in my mouth, I can tell something's wrong. I can't eat or drink without crying cause it hurts me. I made an appointment for this Wednesday & he said they will take xrays. Is that safe? I'm scared that if I do have an infection, I don't want it to hurt my baby but I don't want an x-ray to cause harm to my baby either. I can't take this pain another day :,( I need it taken care of. Helpppppp

They will probably pull the tooth that causes problems.

Put tea tree oil on the painful part and swish with garlic salt water.  If there is an infection the infection will go down after a day or two.

You can take Tylenol for now for pain.. 6 years ago almost 7, with my first pregnancy I had a tooth ache, I was almost 8 months along, and I had an exray done I had an abscess tooth which is an infection, the only thing they told me they could do while I was pregnant was pull it I was devastated.. I absolutely did not want to loose my tooth I cryed to my dentist about I definitely expressed how much I wanted to save my tooth even if it was a tooth in the back, well I couldn't. But the xray was fine they cover your belly and baby will be fine, they gave my Tylenol 3 for pain and that was it, good luck!!

I used to work at a dental office. We would request a letter from the OB with permission before we would take x-rays. They will put two lead aprons over you to provide extra protection, and if you go to an office where they take digital x-rays, it's supposed to only use 10% of the radiation as film x-rays. If you are having pain, they will likely need to see what's going on via x-ray, and the immediate need of your dental pain is more serious than the very unlikely chance that the x-rays could cause a problem. Mommy needs healthy teeth!! Good luck at your appointment, I hope your pain is resolved quickly.
