This is my 3rd pregnant out of 4 with diabetes. It's very serious as high sugars can lead to birth defects and even worse. Stick to a schedule and monitor often. Walk if you can. High sugars can also cause the baby's sugar to drop at birth and that's serious. It happened to my second and I couldn't really nurse her after because they had to give her a bottle to keep her from crashing. She was also 9lbs. Stillbirth is the scariest risk because the baby's pancreas is working harder to clear excessive sugar. A consistent diet also helps. My prayers are with you. I've been on insulin this entire pregnancy, I'm at 29 weeks now and I want a healthy baby so I fight to be compliant. Blessings
I have it, first time even after 3 normal pregnancies. Its tough to adjust at first but you must. I just got prescribed medicine for it and in 6 month along
Yep. I have gestational diabetes, am controlling my diet (cutting down on carbs and therefore sugars), taking tablets 3 times a day and injecting insulin in my stomach 4 times a day. As the previous poster said it can mean a much bigger baby and even possibly a c section whether you want one or not. I recommend sticking to a very strict diet if you ate diagnosed with diabetes or gestational diabetes. Baby could get stuck in the birth canal, and the only way to get them out is to break or dislocate bones
I have gestational diabetes and so did my mom . You have to watch what you eat and you have a higher chance of a bigger baby and having a c section .
